Extreme Love by Abby Niles

** 4 out of 5 Stars **

New body.  New clothes.  New men.

Used to the average Joe, Caitlyn Moore is overwhelmed when the supremely masculine Dante Jones walks into her life and expresses an interest in her.  at first she pushes him away, refusing to encourage the attention of a cage fighter.  Then she learns Dante has a love’em and leave’em reputation.  What better way to fine-tune her non-existent flirting skills than with a male who won’t stick around?  But Dante has no intention of being a practice dummy; he’s out for all or nothing.  Now Caitlyn must accept Dante—violent career and all—or let him go.

Dante “Inferno” Jones has one goal:  Win the Welterweight Championship.  At a time when focus is crucial, the last thing he needs is a distraction.  Yet Caitlyn Moore becomes a challenge he can’t resist.  When the light-hearted pursuit shifts to a battle to win her heart, his focus is shot.  Faced with losing the biggest match of his career, Dante must decide if his extreme life also has room for Extreme Love.

What to say, what to say?  This was an awesome book!  I loved every last second of it.  It kept me wrapped up in the story from page one.  It's intense and you feel every emotion that each character does.  I connected with the characters right away.  I was glad because lately this has been a problem.  I understood them and I understood how they felt.  The plot was great and the writing style more than easy to follow.

She's a he's more than happy to chase!

Caitlyn or Cait in my opinion is a strong woman.  She grew so much in this leaps and bounds!  She's red headed with green eyes.  she's never really had a lot of success in the dating world.  She's beautiful inside and out.  Her outward appearance is a big issue for her.  She's been heavy all her life and has recently lost 80lbs.  She's a size 12.  Everyone sees her as just that but in her head she's still a size 22.  She struggles with body image and hurtful comments daily.  She wears baggy clothes to hide her body and she's so skiddish.  I loved her and her journey.  She is a instructor in a gym and teaches a class called "Altering Assumptions."

Dante "Inferno" Jones is a cage fighter in the MMA circuit.  His nickname is good for him.  It explains him to a T!  He's tall, has dark hair and blue eyes.  He has tattoos and muscles.  He's a fighter so you know he's built like something from another world.  He's possessive and persistent.  Once he see's Caitlyn as his there is no stopping him.  He loves fiercely just as he fights fiercely.

They meet at an after party following a fight.  She has no interest in his world but is intrigued by the man.  He is tired of the women with no future and surprised that she turns him down.  She's the ultimate chase and he's game to chase her.  At first she fights her attraction to him, refusing to give him an inch.  She's so wrapped up in her body image issues that she can't see that he's actually into her.  She can't understand why he'd be into her at all.  He's into the fact that once he catches her she will kiss him because of the man and not the fame.  He has time for the work it's going to take.  He's in town for 2 months training for his next big fight against a guy named Richard Sentori.

Once he finally convinces her to go out with him he gets a inside glimpse of how horrible people can be to her.  He runs into an ex girlfriend and she says some really nasty comments that cause Cait to run and lands the girl in a pool.  He doesn't take kindly to people being ugly to her.  Running won't get this girl anywhere though, he's to stubborn not to chase her.

She finally makes a decision to stop running from him and see where it leads but unfortunately hears a conversation between him and his coach.  Because of her and Dante's lack of focus, his coach quits on him.  The only way to get him back on track and headed for the win he's wanting she makes a deal with the coach.  She has to cut him off completely.  To do this she has to make him angry so she agrees to a plan and makes a date with his opponent.  The guy is slime.  He leaves "evidence" after his date with her to make Dante think they slept together.  Her best friend (also the guy responsible for the plan) gets worried and spills the beans to Dante.  Dante doesn't buy what Sentori is selling and wants to kill the guy for hurting her but she stops him.  The night goes from chaos to amazing once he calms down.  They then take their relationship to the next level.

His fight is coming up and he's leaving for Vegas.  Since they are officially dating now he asks her to go with him.  Even though she doesn't want to she agrees to support him.  Things are going fine and they are having a blast together.  This should have been a warning...if it's going well that means disaster is about to strike!  He slips up telling her loves her.  She doesn't return the words and he's devastated.  A fight ensues between them.

“What I deserve is to be loved by the woman I love.”

He leaves angry and she goes to take a walk to think.  She's going back to tell him she loves him when Sentori has his guys grab her.  She manages to escape but not before Dante thinks she's left him the night before his fight.  He's heart broken and angry.  She gets to the fight in the last round and tells him she loves him.  He was in the process of loosing until she showed up.  He wins his championship.

“All was forgiven the moment you said you loved me. I needed to hear that. I needed you here,”

The epilogue happens 8 months later at another fight that he wins.  He proposes and she says yes.

This book really did have it all for me.  I loved it.  So why only 4 stars?  Well basically Caitlyn's weight issues and insecurity were beaten to death.  There were times I wanted to slap her and yell, "Get over yourself before you loose him!"  I wanted her to get past it and she eventually did.  The problem was that by the time she did I was irritated almost to the point of not caring.  I was still glad when it all worked out and they finally had their HEA.

Abby Niles...My hat is off to you!  This was a great story and I can't wait for more!

Favorite Quotes:

“Did you see the way he glared at me? It wasn't with daggers, Cait, it was fists. That fine piece of man-meat has staked a claim on you and he’s going to pummel anyone who stands in his way, including my gay ***. My face can’t handle that. After tonight, you’re on your own.”--Paul

“Um, tall, dark, and extremely p***ed just walked in the door.”

“Be careful with that, Cait. Sometimes you don’t realize what you can live with until you've lost the one thing you can’t live without."
