The Gamble by Kristen Ashley

The Gamble (Colorado Mountain, #1)** 5 out of 5 Amazing/Intense/Brilliant Stars **

**This is a LONG book so this is a LONG review (Book Summary after Review I should say) be prepared!

Nina Sheridan's on a timeout adventure in the Colorado Mountains.  She needs distance from her clueless fiance, distance to decide whether she wants to spend the rest of her life with a man who doesn't care enough to learn how she takes her coffee.

Arriving in a blinding snowstorm at the A-Frame she rented, she comes face to face with the most amazing man she's ever seen.  Minutes later, when he kicks her out of his house, she goes head to head with him.

Beyond angry because she's flown half a world away to start her timeout adventure, not to mention her sinuses hurt, she heads back down the mountain and ends up in a ditch.  Unable to extricate herself, she gives up, hopes for rescue and falls asleep in the backseat.

The next morning she wakes up in the amazing man's bed and she's sick as a dog.

Holden Maxwell spends days  nursing her back to health and then he spends the next two weeks trying to convince her to take her Colorado adventure further, in other words, make it permanent and take a gamble on him.

Nina has a tough time fighting her attraction to Max, especially when it seems all Max's friends, her mother and step-dad and the whole town want them together and both she and Max get embroiled in the murder of Max's ex-friend and the town of Gnaw Bone's most detested resident--a man everyone has motive to kill, especially Max.

Holy Smokes!  This book was awesome!  I loved it and I hated it and then I loved it some more!  This one had my emotions and my panties all in a twist.  I couldn't figure out if I wanted to hug or throw my Kindle...I'm still not sure.  I loved the heroine, Nina was amazing.  So strong in every aspect of her life.  Max was perfect. They were amazing together.  I could feel things brewing between them from the very beginning.  I don't know that I actually like Max better than I liked Tate from Sweet Dreams but it's a close (very close) call. I loved the side characters and the drama that followed.  Let me just say that I hope I never go on a vacation that ends up the way her does...minus the hot mountain man turned boyfriend part ;)  The book is told from Nina's POV and it takes place over a 2 week period.  So many things happen it's almost hard to keep up at times.  It kept me engaged the entire book even though it felt kind of long a times (it's a very long book). This is the first book in Kristen Ashley's Colorado Mountain series.  I happened upon it after reading Sweet Dreams from the same series.  I'm pretty sure that after 2 amazing books I'll continue this series through to the end.  Kristen Ashley is officially now one of my favorite authors.  I'm mad at myself because it's taken me so long to read this series!  It's rare that I will rate an entire series 5 Star but this one is definitely a 5 Star series.  My hats off to you Kristen Ashley!  You're books are AMAZING!!

A few things that I didn't care for:
  1. Her need to say "Max" and "I'm sorry" repeatedly.  I mean it was like every other sentence.  It didn't take away from the book, but became annoying after awhile.
  2. The communication problems.  I mean seriously girl, if you're that upset about his dead wife then I don't know, maybe...TALK TO HIM!  Just a thought.
A few things I loved:
  1. He called her "baby", "honey", "Dutchess", "darlin", and I'm sure there were more.  I loved that he cared enough to call her those endearments from the beginning when her POS fiance didn't.
  2. I loved how protective, and dominate he was with her.  Not letting her leave because he simply wanted her to stay...LOVED it!
  3. The epilogue--I'm a sucker for epilogues anyway but this one was beautiful!

Nina is 36.  She's blonde headed, with hazel eyes and very pretty.  She lives in England and is an attorney.  She's engaged to a douchbag who doesn't care about her at all.  She's very put together, almost to the point of snooty in the beginning.  She' was a strong character.  She didn't take crap from anyone including Max at times.  She had no problem standing up for others or herself.  She had a "take on the world" feel to her and I loved her instantly.

Max is 37.  he's tall with broad shoulders, dark wavy hair, and grey eyes.  He is the owner of the house Nina is going to rent while she's on vacation.  He's dark and imposing in the beginning, very unapproachable.  He's domineering, possessive, and a bit and out of the bedroom.  He sees something he wants and he goes for it.  He was married 10 years before but lost his wife in a car accident and has since played the field thinking he'd never find love again.

Nina is taking a break from her life.  She's left her fiance, her life, and everything else behind for 2 weeks.  Her plans are to get to the house she's rented and sort through her feelings.  She's has a fiance named Niles who could care less that she's gone.  He doesn't call to make sure she made it safely or anything.  It's snowing and she's getting sick.  All she can think about is getting to her destination and going to bed.  Once at the house, she realizes there is a mix up.  The owner is home and the booking was wrong.  He's a jerk and sends her own her way.  She being the person she is, has no intention of going down with a fight.  They fight outside in the snow, he tells her to stay the night, and she's so stubborn she refuses.  She ends up in a ditch not far from his house.  She's had enough and takes some medicine and falls asleep in the backseat praying someone will find her.

The following morning she wakes up in Max's bed in the house she left the following night sick as a dog.  Like death flu sick.  Over the next several days Max takes care of her.  He feeds her, makes sure she's taking medicine, and when she's shivering uncontrollably he gets into his bed with her and holds her until she's calm again.  She's out of it but knows some of what's going on.  Following her illness she wakes up mortified with one thought...Get far far away.

There's just one problem with her plan to leave...Max won't let her.  She needs her rest and she's staying, end of story.  He's goes so far that he takes her keys and calls the cab company and tells them not to come get her if she calls while he's out.  For her nothing has changed but for him, he's spent the last 48 hours taking care of him and now he wants to get to know her.  He flirts and lets her know that if she were his...

"If you told me you needed a timeout, first, I wouldn't f***in let you have one, second, I wouldn't give you reason to f***in want one, last, you took off anyway, I'd f***in phone."

He takes her to dinner which ends up being their first date.  He's trying to get to know her but she argues with him about everything.  Seriously they even argue about the nationality of beer.  We meet Shauna, who is a woman Max used to sleep with.  She's a horrible person and I couldn't stand her.  Once back at the house she goes to bed and wakes up in his arms.  When she tries to pull away, he pulls her back to him.  She's still set on leaving but he kisses her.  The following morning he takes her to his "spot" which is a bluff on his mountain.  He doesn't take a lot of people there but he took her only having known her a few days.  Following their day together, she sends Niles a "dear John" letter home through an email, ending her 2 year relationship.  They begin spending time together, sleeping curled around each other every night.  He is constantly calling her "his woman". It's sweet. (Yes, I'm going all swoony on you)

We meet Mindy and Becca.  Mindy is Max's best friend's (Brody) little sister.  Nina gets the wrong idea but Mindy is like his little sister.  Becca is Mindy's best friend who is also close to Max.  We find out that Nina's brother was hurt in the army.  He lost his legs and in coming home lost everything else he valued. He gave up and committed suicide.  Having the wrong idea about Mindy, Nina delivers this information rather bluntly and harshly.  When she leaves the room, Max lets Nina know who she is and what she means to him.  He then tells her she was harsh and that Mindy had been raped 3 weeks prior and didn't need that from her.

Her and Mindy get to know each other and end up having a girls night with a few other females in town.  Mindy's boyfriend is a total douchebag and blames Mindy for what happened.  When he gets ugly with Mindy, Nina jumps in and ends up getting backhanded across the face.  Max walked in a the exact moment this happens and beats the crap out of him.

Max is trying his best to spend time with her alone but they are constantly interrupted.  Max isn't a fan of being interrupted.  Nina is fully aware of what Max wants their alone time to consist of.  He has no problem letting her know that he wants to be with her.  On the way to dinner he tells her he wants her to move to Colorado, live in his house, and start a life with him.  (It's not even been a full week!)  She isn't quite getting it yet but he has no intention of letting her go now that he has her.  She's officially been claimed.

We find out about Max's wife when Nina discovers their picture at Bitsy's house (friend of Max and wife of the man who was married earlier in the book...didn't mention it because I really didn't see the point). She can tell how happy they were and how much he loved her. She gets this idea in her head that if he has already been with the love of his life then she can never be that for him.  Without even talking to him she makes the decision to not even try.  She's trying to run and he's trying to plan their future.  He knows somethings up but can't get through to her.

At dinner they run into Shauna again.  This confrontation was funny.  Her dad shows up in town and she gets in a screaming match with him and slaps him.  Max has to pull her back.  This girl is feisty when she's mad.  Her mom and step dad show up and he and Max go to talk to her father.  Max finds out at the meeting that Niles is on his way to town and they have to meet with them the following morning.  It doesn't go well.  Niles shows his true colors and we find out that her dad offered Max $250,000 to walk away.

Mindy tries to commit suicide but they get to her in time and Nina takes over showing how strong she is.  She rushes into the water and pulls her out then performs CPR.  She promises her she'll help her get the help she needs and eventually does.  When she and Max are finally alone, he's angry that she jumped in the water.  They fight, make up and then finally have sex.  It's hot and he's so dominate with her.  Now that they have officially done the deed, she's his and he has no intention of letting her walk away.

Anna gets the full story about Max and Anna from a very drunk Harry (another friend of Max) and he's none to nice about it.  Tells her she'll never be Anna and that he'll never love her the way he loved Anna.  She shuts down and won't talk to him.  She's planning on getting through the night and leaving the next morning.  Max hears a recorded conversation with Bitsy and realizes that Nina already knows about Anna while he's been trying to figure out how to tell her.  He's so angry and says some really mean things.  He pretty much tells her they are done and walks away.  She being Nina packs up her things and takes off to a cabin in the woods.  Damon, Mindy's boyfriend she hit, finds her and beats the crap out of her.  I mean seriously this girl goes on vacation and it sucks (minus hot, sexy mountain man who claims you)!

"I mean, I go on a vacation to try to figure out my life and here I am, my legs's scraped up, my ribs are bruised, I've been backhanded and punched, I've been to a hospital once and a Police Station three times and I've been into it with practically everyone in town and, if you take out the time I've been sick, I've only been here a week!"

"I need a timeout to deal with my timeout!"

Max began tracking her down the minute he realized she was gone (about the moment he cooled off and realized he needed to talk to her) and when he finds her and sees the damage he's angry.  After a trip to the hospital he finally talks to her about Anna and then tells her that part of his life is over and Nina is who he wants to be with.  His whole point of tracking her down after she left was to bring her home.  He never intended to walk away from her, it was just a fight, and she finally realizes that he really just wants to be with her.  He's told her he's in love with her and she believes him.  When they leave that cabin the following morning they are back on track with their future.

"When I was young life handed me somethin' beautiful.  Then it took it away.  Ten years down the road, somethin' different, but no less beautiful, showed up right at my front door.  I knew it almost the minute I saw it and nothin' has happened since to shake that.  You think, findin' that in you, I'm gonna let you change my password, write me some f***ed up note and walk away?"

She finally tells him she loves him as she's about to fall asleep.  He wakes her up in the middle of the night making love to her and demands she say again.  Following this things are calm for a few days.  As everything goes on her crazy vacation, things won't stay quiet long.

While grocery shopping with her mom, Damon shows up and hits her then kidnaps her.  She's in his truck headed out of town when Harry (Max's friend) stops the truck and kills Damon.  Thinking she's safe she goes to him.  He injects her with something and then she's being kidnapped again.  When she comes to she's with Bitsey and Shauna is then brought in.  All 3 have been kidnapped.  She gets away from Harry and takes off running but he catches her.  She screams and Max barrels into the guy and almost beats him to death.  It takes 8 men to hold him off the guy.   He comforts her while she cries and then takes her home where she belongs.

The epilogue is 3 years later.  She is living in the house on the mountain with him.  They are married and have been.  He's still just as possessive and protective.  They have a son who is named Charlie after her brother and she's pregnant with their second child.  At the very end they are sitting in a chair in front of the fire together and she's asleep curled around him.  PERFECT!

If I could give this book more stars I would.  Hands down a 5 star book and a 5 star series!  The book speaks for itself.  Go now and put it on your TBR list.  READ IT!  You won't regret it!

My Max / Nina

Favorite Quotes:

I doubted this was the case and decided he was probably doing something Max-ish.  Chopping wood.  Building a barn.  Saving a child in distress or climbing a tree to rescue a cat.  Stuff like that.

"You think to slide back, settle for something that made you run away because you think it's safe because it's familiar, because you're scared of takin' a gamble on me, I'm warnin' you now, Duchess, I'm not gonna allow that."

Withstanding Me by Crystal Spears

Withstanding Me (Breakneck, #2)** 5 out of 5 Stars **

While the chaos and bloodshed have slowed for a short period, life is never quiet in the world of Breakneck.  The club is taking time to regroup from internal betrayal and the changing of the guard in a rival group.

Zig Zag became a father at the age of thirteen.  While raising a child has never been easy, now his eighteen year old daughter Tatiana makes his life downright hard.  She has caught the eye of Travis, the new President of the rival MC Gunners, but all she really wants is Shadow, the newest addition to the Breakneck family.  When Shadow's rejection sends Tatiana running from the only family, home, and safety she's ever known, ZZ is crazy with worry.  The distraction caused by Tatiana's disappearance could prove to be Zig Zag's downfall.

If that isn't enough ZZ finds himself rampantly attracted to the one and only Storm.  She's beautiful, quick and witty.  Their friendship is the one thing that keeps him from growing crazy, and Storm stands by ZZ through all the turmoil.  Zig Zag is not accustomed to hearing the word no, so Storm's constant withstanding just draws him in deeper.  Their friendship is one thing keeping him from going crazy, until one night...

The club is regrouping and rebuilding from the mayhem known as the Russian Mafia.  A hit is ordered on Tatiana, Storm, Winter, and Piper.

Tatiana's egg donor reveals secrets that a thirteen year old Zig Zag was too young to understand.

Braxxon is out of reach while he helps Greg Cage deal with some dirty business.

Welcome back to the Breakneck world.

Woah...does this book have a lot of drama!  For me this book was AWESOME!  This is the story of ZZ and Storm.  It felt more like a community book.  The book was based around these two but we also got to see Braxx and Winter's relationship progress.  We have the side stories of Tatiana and Shadow and a few more.  There was so much angst, drama, and everything that is Breakneck that I stayed on the edge of my seat.  Every time I thought things were gonna smooth over something else blew up in their faces.  Seize Me was such a great book and I wondered how a squeal could ever meet my expectations.  It exceeded them without a doubt.  I loved, LOVED the Breakneck chapters!  That's not something I see very often and it was great.  I connected with the characters.  I loved where the story took us and I can't wait for the next book!

Yes it's that good!

Storm is a 22 year old woman who has been through more than her share of abuse.  Breakneck took her in when they broke up a human trafficking ring.  She is the bar manager at Winter's club, Sated.  She's gorgeous and edgy.  She has blonde hair with black tips, a nose ring, and blue eyes.  She's quick and witty.  She knows what and who she wants.  She's a very strong character who knows life has been rough on her but refuses to quit.  I loved her!

ZZ is 31 and the Sargent at Arms to Braxx, also his best friend.  He's muscular, 6'3, brown eyes, brown hair.  He's covered in tattoos and he's pierced.  He has an 18 year old daughter who gives him more trouble than thought possible.  He was 13 when she was born and he's raised her with the help of his parents.  Her mother was nowhere to be found while Tatiana was growing up.  He's got his hands full with his daughter, club drama, and his uncontrollable desire for Storm.

Withstanding Me begins with ZZ sitting in Winter's club watching Storm.  He wants her but she's the only woman who he can't have.  Storm is in love with ZZ and has been for awhile.  She wants all of him and he just wants sex.  He's tried and tried but she just want give in...which of course makes him want her more.

"How much longer are you gonna keep withstanding me, darlin?"
"Just until you fall in love with me."
"I don't fall in love, baby."
"Oh, but you will and it'll be with me."

6 weeks pass and he still hasn't gotten to her.  He's having issues with his daughter.  She has a tendency to sneak away from the club and get into more trouble than necessary.  Winter and Braxx are on edge as they prepare for their doesn't help that Winter has decided to take over the world.  Well she's gonna take over the town anyway.  Things are somewhat quiet with the MC until ZZ finds out that Travis, President of a rival MC, has his eyes set on his daughter.  If that's not enough to deal with, the poor guy finds out that Storm is going on a date with the club's lawyer.  When he demands she not go she lets him know he's not gonna bully her.  In his eyes, she's his, which is what drives him to show up on her date.  When she talks to him, he realizes that she's letting him go.  They are the best of friends, but she's letting him go as a romantic interest.

The girls (Winter, Storm, Piper, and Tatiana) are having lunch at a restaurant near the club when someone shoots at them.  Storm dives to cover Tatiana and ends up with glass in her leg dangerously close to an artery.  Winter calls Braxx and when he and ZZ show up he's worried.  It's understandable considering there's blood everywhere and she has to be rushed into surgery.  He stays with her never leaving her side until she goes home.

The MC goes on lock down.  It's better this time since Winter has been remodeling and building onto the property.  They are no longer underground and can even be outside with how the building is designed.  She feels a lot of guilt because of Lana and she's trying to keep her family safe.  ZZ finds out that there is a hit on all 5 girls.  The wedding is moved to the property and they FINALLY get married!!

At the reception, ZZ comes up on Storm talking to the lawyer again.  He's really into this girl but doesn't realize what he feels.  He sits on the steps below and around the corner for them drinking.  When she finally comes down and finds him they end up having sex on the stairs.  He can't look at her after and she's hurt.

4 weeks pass and the club is still on lock down.  Braxx gets a call from Greg Cage (Cage by Harper Sloan, Awesome book btw) and has to leave town to help him.  Winter isn't happy but she deals with it.  ZZ knows he's messed up with Storm.  We find out that Storm is pregnant with ZZ's baby and after talking to Winter at the club she leaves to go back to the clubhouse to tell him.  While on her way, she's shot at and ends up having a wreck.  ZZ hears the phone call and takes off after her.  She's hurt and one of his brother's has to tell him she's pregnant.  He's out of his mind with worry and shock.  When she wakes up in the hospital she knows they have lost the baby.  ZZ's done wasting time and tells her he wants to try being in a relationship and she agrees after he talks her into it.

We find out that ZZ also has a son.  Tatiana has a twin bother that he didn't know about.  He finds out when Mace shows up at the club.  Mace is just like his father in every way.  They make a place for him.  They find out that the hit was ordered by Winter's uncle.  Braxx finally comes back and they begin to deal with the issues at hand.

ZZ finally calls Breakneck on Storm.  She's officially his.

Winter is pregnant and Braxx is over the moon about it.

The Russians block off the town and the brothers have to leave the girls at the clubhouse with a few other brothers while they handle the situation.  It comes under heavy fire while they are away.  Storm made a promise to ZZ that she'd take care of his family and she puts her own life in danger to guarantee the safety of them.  When everything is said and done, no one was hurt and ZZ is mad but so is she.  She locks herself away for the night.  He was scared he could have lost her.  The next morning he goes to make things right.  He tells her he loves her and she goes ballistic on him.  He has to remind her of what she told him in the beginning and she finally accepts it.

"You're not giving up.  I won't let you.  You once told me that'd I fall in love, and it would be with you.  You remember that?  You took me, a man that didn't do love, and you owned me Storm.  You f***in own me!  I love you."

There is no epilogue but there are more books coming so I can live with that.  So here i go again...waiting impatiently for the next book :)  Great work Crystal Spears!  This is one of my favorite series and I can not wait until the next book comes!  I give this book 5 stars because it's awesome!  If you love Bikers and hardcore MC's then this book is for you.  It's not light and fluffy, it deals with darkness, murder, and violence but it's sooo good!  I would recommend reading Seize Me before reading Withstanding me.  Like I said, for me it's more of a community book to me.  We get to see what's going on with everyone and not just ZZ and Storm.  You need the entire story, especially Braxx and Winter, for this story to really grab you!  Read it!  I promise you won't be disappointed!

My ZZ / Storm

Cage by Harper Sloan

Cage (Corps Security, #2)** 5 out of 5 Stars **

Greg Cage was born to protect   While growing up, he was his mother and sister's shield against the world...until he failed.  For the last decade, he has carried that guilt and need for vengeance around...until it was stripped from him.  Now with his best friend getting married and no longer needing his protection, he is even more lost, completely adrift, and desperate for some control.  All he has ever known was how to protect:  his family, his friends, and his country   Can he go against everything he has ever known, and give up that control?

Melissa Larson will never let anyone hold the reins in her life.  She has been the rock in her family for more years than she can remember, and the fight to keep them together is her main priority right now.  She has always been fiercely independent and proud.  The last thing she will ever do is ask for someone else's help.  But when that choice is out of her control, forcing her to rely on others to save her and her family, and pick up the pieces that are left, will she be able to let someone else be her strength?

The second Greg locks eyes with Meli, he knows that she is someone he needs.  Someone he craves.  Meli knew the second she met Greg that he would be nothing but trouble and heartache.  Her life takes an unexpected turn, and that bitch Fate is back to wreak more havoc on another member of the Corps family.

All hell breaks loose, leaving Greg no choice but to call in a favor.  He hooks back up with his old friend Braxxon Breaker from the Breakneck MC.  Together, they make sure that nothing threatens anyone Greg loves again.

Well Harper Sloan has done it again!  Cage is the second installment of the Corps Security series.  This book was wonderful.  I fell in love with Greg Cage in Axel.  When I learned he was getting his own books I was excited.  I waited and waited...impatiently I might add and I wasn't disappointed.  We get a better look into who Cage is and what he's about.  If I am being honest, I didn't really like the heroine.  I don't really know why I didn't but I just didn't get a good feel for her.  The story revolves around all of our favorite Corps men and their women.  It was nice to get to revisit with Axel and Izzy.  I was very intrigued with the other side stories as well and can't wait to read them.  This book is done in dual POV which I love!  We also got to revisit another character that I'm in love with.  When everything goes haywire and Cage needs back up he calls...BRAXX!  Yes, Braxxon Breaker from Crystal Spear's Breakneck Series!  If you haven't read Seize Me you need to do!  Amazing book!  There is a lot of angst toward the end of the book.  It took awhile to build for me but once it had me it was one heck of a ride!  All in all, Cage is a great book and I loved every second of it!

Cage is...Cage.  He's 6'4, gorgeous, and amazing.  He's a Marine who will do anything to protect the ones he loves.  After the way he was toward Izzy in Axel I just knew when he finally fell in love it would be fiercely.  He has a strong sense of family.  He's protective, fierce and all he adores kids!   He's also pierced and I have a thing for tattooed and pierced men.  He's got 3 piercings in umm...places :)

Melissa has had a hard go of it.  She's working for a doctor, living in a rat hole of an apartment, driving a pos vehicle, and trying to support her family while dealing with the loss of her sister.  She isn't looking for love and wants no part of it.  She's strong, independent and mouthy.

The book begins with Cage.  He's having sex with a void filler named Mandy.  He's told her time and time again that it's just sex but this girl isn't taking a hint.  He gets a phone call right in the middle of sex and actually answers it.  He has to take Izzy and Axel's son to the doctor and this is where he meets Meli for the first time.  He's immediately smitten and wants to know more.  But when the baby gets sick and he has to deal with that she disappears.

Cage's sister was murdered by her husband years ago.  He can't prove it and after going off the deep end for awhile he wants revenge.  He's driven by guilt and is determined to find it.  This comes into play a little later in the story.

At Izzy's bachlorette party Cage and Meli run into each other again.  The attraction between them is so strong they almost have sex on the dance floor.  Things are going well much to the amusement of their friends until Mandy shows up and goes psycho.  Meli wants no part of that drama and leaves.  Cage takes Mandy upstairs to put her in her place but ends up having sex with her again....even though he tells her he is thinking about Meli while he's doing it.

Axel and Izzy get married.  At the wedding stalker girl shows up again and he once again tells her they are done and then pursues Meli.  He finally talks her into going home with him and once there they catch fire.  The sex scenes are hot and they are amazing together.   They talk about the connection the next morning both agreeing that it can't be ignored any longer.  Stalker shows up again and he has to handle it again.  He's pretty sure he's got his point across.  Cage and Meli spend the weekend locked in his house.

"But, I can tell you that if the way I feel for you now keeps growing, there isn't an army strong enough to pull me out.  Spent too long wanting someone worth it and as crazy as it sounds?  One look took one look that even being covered in Nate's vomit couldn't dim how bright that beauty knocked me down."

We also find out they have very similar pasts.  Meli's sister was killed by the same man that killed Cage's sister.  He realizes this but doesn't tell her.  The only difference in the stories is that Meli has a nephew that lives with her mother.  Her sister wanted her to have custody of Cohen, whose 3, but with the hours she has to work to support them, it's just not possible.

Mandy shows up at Meli's job and causes a huge scene that ends up getting her fired.  This chick is batsh** crazy.  Like certifiable!  When Meli comes out of her office, Mandy is slashing her tires.  Having had enough, Meli charges the girl and they end up fighting in the parking lot with Mandy screeching like a banshee.  Meli gets cut in the process but isn't seriously hurt.  Cage shows up and handles the situation.   He takes her home and tells her he'll handle the issues with her job.  This is the beginning of them as an official "us".

"Greg, you have the power to not only get in but to destroy me if you ever want back out."

A month passes and things are running smoothly.  He refuses to let her go back to her apartment.  He says it's not safe and slowly her stuff keeps getting moved into his house.  He also buys her a car because of how old hers is.  She tells him she wants Cohen to live with her and he's up for it.  The little boy starts spending weekends with them at Cage's house.  Cage and Cohen are instant buddies and Cage begins to fall in love with Cohen.  They begin planning their lives together as a family.  He still hasn't told her that he knows about her sister.

They tell each other they love each other for the first time when he admits that he loves Cohen.

A few weeks later he goes home and crashes after a really bad day at work.  While he's asleep he misses the phone calls of his friends.  Meli was out to dinner with Izzy and their friends when Mandy corners her in the bathroom.  She overheard Cage talking about his secret to Axel and she tells Meli.  She goes home with Izzy and he's frantic when he can't find her.  Axel calls him and lets him know that she's safe but to stay away.  He spends a restless night thinking he's lost her.  He goes to see her mother and talks to her and after she reassures him that everything will be fine he goes home to wait.  Meli comes home and she's no longer mad and has already forgiven him.  He looks awful and she's worried about him.  He's been crying and she can't handle it.  They end up having make up sex against the wall and things are fine.

3 months later she has officially moved in with him, Cohen is staying with them more than with her mother, and Mandy isn't an issue any longer.  She's been admitted to some place to deal with her issues.  There is a really cute scene where Cohen tells Meli that he wants Cage to be his daddy.  He starts calling him daddy and he falls even more in love with the kid.

They receive a phone call at 4 am.  The panic button has be activated at her mother's house.  When they get to the house, her mother is at the hospital.  She's been stabbed and beaten and they don't think she will make it.  Cohen is gone.  Cohen's grandmother (his dad's mom) has been trying to get custody of the little boy so when that tactic fails she kidnaps the boy.  Meli's mother dies from her injuries and they have to admit Meli to the hospital and sedate her to calm her down.  They get wind of where the woman might be headed and Cage does the only thing he can do.  He calls Braxx and gives him the code for top priority emergency.  He has to leave Meli at the hospital to go get his son.  He meets Braxx at the airport and they end up at the house where they think Cohen is.

When they go into the house, Cage finds Mandy in the house having sex with the guy that helped kidnap Cohen.  After a struggle with the guy, Braxx handles the situation.  They find Cohen locked in a dark room dirty and hungry but unharmed.  After taking care of Cohen, bathing and feeding him, they head home.  Meli is doing better and is waiting for them at home.

2 months later they go to dinner with their friends and we find out that they ran off and got married.  The epilogue takes place at the graves of her mother and sister.  She tells them that the adoption papers have come though and she and Cage are now Cohen's parents.  She also tells them that she's pregnant.  She drives home to the boys rolling around in the front yard.

I give this book 5 stars.  A 5 star rating on a sequel in a series is rare for me but Harper Sloan pulled it off.  I loved everything about this book.  If you haven't read Axel you need to read it first so you can get a feel for Cage.  I recommend this book for anyone who loves strong men who will do anything to protect their families and love fiercely!  Read it, you will not be disappointed!

Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley

Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain, #2)** 5 out of 5 Amazing/Intense/Alpha Male Stars **

Lauren Grahame has spent her whole life thinking something special was going to happen.  She didn't know what it was, she just knew it would one day be hers.  But she learned the hard way that special wasn't on offer.

So after divorcing her cheating husband, Lauren searched for nothing special and she thought she found it when she landed a job as a waitress in a biker bar in Carnal.  It was perfect:  a nothing job in a nowhere bar in Nowheresville.

Then Tatum Jackson walked in.  Part-owner of the bar, he took one look at high-class Lauren and wanted nothing to do with her.  And he made this known, loudly.

Tate's angry insults seared in her brain, Lauren decides the feeling is mutual and she doesn't want anything to do with the gloriously handsome Tate Jackson.  The clash of the bartender and barmaid begins but, even though Tate makes his change of mind clear (in biker-speak, a language Lauren is not fluent in), Lauren is intent on going her own way.

Until a serial killer hits Carnal and Lauren finds out Tate isn't a bartender, he's a bounty hunter.  He stakes his claim for Lauren before he goes on the hunt for a killer but Laurie doesn't speak biker nor does she understand bounty hunters and Tate comes back form the hunt to find his old lady has moved on.

Life throws curveball after curveball at Laurie and Tate.  As secrets are revealed, women are brutally murdered, and Lauren tries to find her inner biker babe.

OMG how am I ever gonna be able to write a review for this book?!  To say it was amazing would be the understatement of the century!  I was engaged on page one and couldn't put it down for anything.  I have to say sitting in your computer networking class while thinking about a book is not a good idea!  This book took me on a roller coaster of a ride and I enjoyed every minute of it.  Sweet Dreams takes place in a small town in the middle of nowhere.  The book is told from Laurie's pov.  Laurie and Tate are amazing together...absolutely perfect!  This story is chalk full of drama, intrigue, angst, romance and sex...lots and lots of sex.  It has a few curve balls thrown in and a crazy psycho ex girlfriend, not to mention a serial killer who is terrorizing this small town.  I'm a sucker for bikers and Tate drives a Harley...nuff said!  Unless you count the fact that he's a bad*** bounty hunter.  This book was amazing.  It will draw you in and refuse to let you go.  The only thing I didn't like was it had a tendency to go really into detail which caused it to drag a bit in places but it didn't take away from the story.

Laurie is a 42 year old woman who has just left a bad marriage.   She had a high paying job, lived in a gated community in a huge house with a husband she loved dearly.  Her husband has spent the last 4 years sleeping with her best friend.  Everyone knew it but her.  She's got blonde hair and not the "ideal" body type.  She's a little on the curvy side.  She's mouthy, insecure, and trying to be independent.

Tate...oh Tate.  Tate is a sexy bad*** biker bounty hunter.  He owns a the bar where Laurie works.  He's 44, tall with dark hair and dark eyes.  He's edgy and dangerous.  He knows what he wants and goes after it.  He's a possessive, controlling alpha male with anger issues.  In the beginning he's hiding a big secret from her.  He's perfect in every way.

Sweet Dreams begins with Laurie sitting outside a bar.  It's a bar in the middle of nowhere.  She has been driving around the country for months looking for a place just like this.  She wants to wants to start an unspecial life in a nowhere town, in a nowhere bar where she can be a nobody.

Her first encounter with Tate isn't a pretty one.  He's angry and he calls her a bunch of names (old and fat) when he finds out his business partner Krystal has hired her.  She overhears him and decides then that she can't stand him and she sets out to avoid him at all cost.  A few days later they end up working together.  He tells her he knows she heard him and tries to apologize.  He even admits that he didn't mean it and has a habit of saying things when he's angry and regretting it after.  She still keeps away from him even when he begins flirting.  We go from hatred to apologizing to flirting in a matter of days...whiplash much?!  Still she continues the no eye contact, only speak when spoken to, I don't care attitude.  He doesn't take kindly to being ignored especially when he wants to be noticed.  These two are like fire and gasoline...and they stay that way throughout the book.

We meet a guy named Wood.  It's obvious he and Tate have a past.  Wood is interested in Laurie and so is Tate.  Tate stakes a claim on her.  They eventually end up on friendly terms but the peace is quickly shattered.

A waitress at the bar is brutally raped and beaten the night that Tate fires her.  He being a bounty hunter, the cops ask for his help in finding the serial killer.  The woman dies in the hospital making her his latest victim.  We find out that he's been watching her.  He knows what room she's staying in, that she walks home, and swims late at night.  These two are a lot closer than she realizes.  He has to leave town to hunt this guy down and before he goes he lets her know that when he comes back she is his.  He does it in biker speak though (She will be on the back of his bike) and she doesn't understand what it means.  He kisses her and then leaves town for a month.

While he's gone, she and Wood get close.  She starts spending the night at his house.  They do things but she doesn't sleep with him.  It was headed in that direction and probably would have happened sooner rather than later but Tate shows up.  Wood tells her all kinds of ugly stuff about Tate.  Tate has been sleeping with Wood's sister since they were young.  Her name is Neeta and that woman is bats*** crazy!  Neeta is married and this automatically puts Laurie off since she was cheated on.  When Tate gets back to town he's ready to claim what's his but things aren't like he thought.  He's thought about her non-stop and he's glad to get back to her.  He kisses her and then she rails him about Neeta.  After they fight and she tells him about Wood, he walks away.

The following day as he delivers the phone he bought her (yeah, he's really letting her go) she receives a phone call that her dad has had a heart attack and he puts them both on a plane and flies home with her.  Once getting to the airport, her sister's boyfriend informs her that her ex husband is at the hospital.  Tate gets rid of him, staking his claim again by calling her his girlfriend.

"I get that you're a big guy but I'd like to talk to my wife."
"Then you shouldn't have thrown her away when she was your wife.  Now she ain't.  Now she's somethin' to me and I don't let men I don't like get close to her and I gotta tell you, man, I do not like you."

They spend the night in the hotel together and he goes running the next morning.  Her ex, not getting Tate's demands, shows up and pretty much tries to force himself on her.  Tate shows up and removes him from the room.  She and Tate end up having sex for the first time.  He calls Wood and lets him know that Laurie is officially his "old lady" and her relationship with Wood is over, then explains what he meant by his comment before he left.  He tells her about Neeta (well most of it, minus one big secret).  They are officially together at this point.  He ends up having to leave her to hunt the killer again.  This time they talk every night and text throughout the day.  When she finally gets home he isn't there.  The night he returns he gets a proper welcome home in the middle of the bar.  She spends her first night (which will end up being forever) at his house.  After they have some seriously hot sex, Wood shows up and they end up fighting.  She gets hit in the crossfire.  She's confused about the fight, he's not explaining anything and he's actually mad at her.  She gets up in the middle of the night and gets on the couch.  She's awakened by an angry Tate who moves her back to the bed.  He lets her know that if she's mad she'll be mad in his bed and if she's having trouble sleeping then she'll do it in his bed.  The next morning she wants to go home but he's not having it.  She tells him she needs time alone to which he informs her she's had 3 weeks alone while he was gone.  The book pretty much does this over and over again.  He gets mad, does something stupid, and she wants to leave.  He doesn't let her.

Now to save space we're gonna hit the high points.  When drama isn't happening between them, they are perfect together and happy.

 Crazy ex girlfriends...yeah...

Neeta catches wind of their relationship and fly's into town looking for blood.  Married or not, she claims him as hers and no one else is gonna live in her house with her man.  A stand off happens outside his house and here we find out that Tate and Neeta have a 10 year old son together.  Laurie being herself automatically assumes that he's with her because it will make him seem more stable since he's fighting for full custody of his son.  He puts that theory to bed quickly.  His son, Jonas, is a cool kid.  He's just like his dad in every way.  He takes an instant liking to Laurie seeing her as comfort and stability.  She falls in love with the kid and they are close very quickly.  There's an incident where Neeta grabs Jonas and hurts him while trying to get him out of Laurie's arms.  Because of this, Tate washes his hands of her and will not let Jonas go back with her.

She tells Tate she loves him but he doesn't say it back.  It's pretty obvious that he was going to until they were interrupted.  Later that night they revisit the conversation and he makes her tell him again.  He does this so he can say it back to her.

They are woken in the middle of the night to Neeta banging on their window drunk.  Here he fights with her.  Finally having had enough he tells Neeta that he's in love with Laurie and she's not leaving his house.  The next time we see Neeta she is showing up at the custody hearing extremely drunk and full custody is granted to Tate.  Jonas moves in with them full time.  She officially moves in with him after a fight when he finds out that she's been looking for apartments.  He doesn't ask, he demands she unpack her bags.

Laurie's ex best friend shows up looking for Laurie's ex husband who is in town and no one knew it.  This scene was funny.  Laurie said some seriously funny but ugly things to her ex friend and then to her ex when he showed up.  I laughed a lot, she and Tate both had fun with that conversation.  Once they are gone, the police show up.  Neeta has been raped and murdered by the serial killer.  Tate tells Jonah and he goes straight to Laurie.  They end up on the floor with her rocking him in her lap while they both cry.  After that they are inseparable...all 3 of them.  Neither father or son want her far from them.  They have the funeral where Tate's mom shows up and makes a scene.

On her birthday a few months later, Tate proposes to her kind of.  He puts a ring on her finger and tells her they are getting married on the anniversary of the day they met.  Things go well for awhile.  They are making a life together with Jonas, a family.

I'd found special in Carnal and in Tate.  Special wasn't exactly perfect but, even so, it was pretty f***ing spectacular and it was finally, finally mine.

Then the worst happens.  Laurie is grabbed by the serial killer.  He's a guy who works at the bar with them.  Tate is out of his mind with worry but holds it together enough to do what needs to be done.  The entire town is looking for her.  She manages to get away when a regular from the bar shoots the guy but she's been stabbed.  The killer chases her through the woods but at this point Tate has already figured out who it is and where they are.  She runs into a clearing and sees Tate's car headed for her before the attacker knocks her to the ground.  Tate almost kills the guy.  We get several people's POV here including Tate's while he's looking for her.  She spends a few days in the hospital and then she's released under Tate's care.  He's not dealing with it as well as she is.  He blames himself for not keeping her safe.

The epilogue takes place on her next birthday a year later.  They are already married and are the happy little family attending another wedding.

Things I really LIKE about this book:

  1. He calls her Ace and babe
  2. Tate has a dainty female cat he calls buster
  3. He claimed her from the beginning
  4. She calls him honey
  5. How protective he is of her...has people with her at all times when he isn't in town
  6. No matter how much they fight he won't let her leave his bed.  She sleeps with him regardless
  7. HEA!!!

This was an amazing book!  It's one of the easiest 5 star reads I've ever rated.  It deserves many more.  I recommend this book to everyone!  Read it!  You will not be disappointed.  It will draw you in and not let you go until the journey is over!

Tattered Love by Lola Stark

Tattered Love (Needle's Kiss, #1)** 4 out of 5 Stars **

When ex-Special Ops bad-ass Mace walks into Needle's Kiss tattoo parlor  he never expected to find the girl who would turn his life upside down.

Hard as nails Scarlett has been unlucky in love:  she's been burnt, chewed up and spat out.  Reluctant to have another relationship, can she keep her wits about her when hot-as-sin Mace walks into her tattoo parlor?  Or will he break her down and leave his mark within her ink?

What starts out as a little fun, turns into something so much more.

Can Scarlett look beyond Mace's devastating past or will his demons come back to haunt them both?

This was a great little story.  You have your sexy as sin ex military alpha male battling his own demons.  You get a heroine who is awesome.  She's independent, mouthy and ready to take on the world.  I loved every second of it.  It was pretty cliche in parts but I love predictable books so for me that was fine.  I have a thing for hot, tattooed, army men so this one had me excited.  This book has a ton of sex in it and it's hot!  It was an easy read that kept me invested.  I laughed a lot because of the banter between them.  I also cried at a certain part because I'm such a girl (and a mom).  I thought this would be all clouds and rainbows but there are some pretty dark parts at times...and a crazy ex.  All and all it was a great read.

"You're his rainbow at the end of the storm."

Scarlett is bad***.  She's 26, covered in tattoos and piercings.  She has black hair and green eyes.  She was a strong heroine.  She drives an awesome car, owns a tattoo parlor and is independently successful.  She's is independent, doesn't care what people think, mouthy, and opinionated.  She's a guys girl and not girly at all.  Aside from her unhealthy obsession (not really) with buying underwear and shoes, she's comfortable with who she is.

Mace is an ex Spacial Ops alpha male.  He is 28.  He's covered in tattoos and has his nipple pierced (yum).  He has black hair and blue eyes.  He is looking for someone to settle down and build a life with.  He is a bit on the possessive side especially when it comes to her.  He's my perfect book boyfriend!

Mace's first stop once returning home is to see his brother Trip who works at Scar's tattoo parlor and to also get a tattoo.  There is an instant attraction between them and things get even more heated while she's giving him his tattoo.  His brother warns him off and tells him she's not a one night stand kind of girl.  She on the other hand is looking for someone to just have fun with without the commitment.

After an intense encounter in her driveway (she lives across the street from his brother) she shows up at his coming home party.  All I can say is game on!  He wants to play dirty and she's only too willing to oblige.  She turns on the charm and tortures him all night.  He took all of it he can stand and pretty much storms into her house and all but takes her against the wall.  He steps back though knowing he'll mess it up if he sleeps with her.  He's drawn to her and wants to get to know her.  He tells her they are going out the following night.  I love that he demanded it and didn't even bother asking her.

Their first date is complicated.  He takes the initiative to do things for her but she doesn't like it.  Very independent as in can order her own beer, buy her own food, etc... She ends up waking the next morning spooning with him.  She didn't sleep with him the previous night but he rectifies that error when he wakes up.  She fully intends on telling him "It was fun but..." but he doesn't give her the chance.

So they begin dating but not calling that, at least she doesn't.  They are spending all of their free time together and he's sleeping at her house more nights than not.  She's damaged and afraid she'll get hurt so she continues to fight the loosing battle with her feelings for him.  He tells her that she's his and they will be together.

"Starting to get it now, aren't you?  I'm gonna get what I want here, Scar.  Forget causal sex, babe; this isn't just a bit of fun."

We find out that he had a daughter.  He was with some crazy, psycho, drug addicted, alcoholic woman.  While he was away on assignment the child stayed with her.  He came home to find his baby in the swimming pool.  He did everything he could to revive her but it was to late.  Belle was 2 when she died.  Her mother was too high and too drunk to watch her.  He has her name tattooed on his chest above his heart.  He blames himself for her death and nothing anyone does will change it.

After being together for about 3 months they both realize they have fallen in love with each other.  He tells her but she doesn't say it back.  He leaves the following day for a few days going out of town.  Scar and her best friend travel an hour out of town to their favorite restaurant and she finds him there with an attractive blonde.  She confronts him and then tells him to stay away from her.  She takes off and he follows her.  He finally gets her to calm down enough to explain that the woman was Belle's mother and the only reason he met with her is because she wanted money.  He's been supporting her for years because she has a way to make him feel guilty.  She somehow in the process of fighting tells him that she loves him and all is well again.

"I'd never cheat on you, Scar.  He was a moron to throw what he had with you away.  Kinda glad he was a d*** though.  Means I got you, and babe, I ain't gonna let go."

While at Mace's brother's birthday party her car is vandalized.  Mace knows it was his ex that did it.  He wants to protect her from all the things that are in his life so he does what an idiot does...he breaks up with her.  For two weeks he stays away from her.  She's hurt and angry plus broken hearted.  All the while things are happening to her.  The scene in the bathroom with the blood and the doll face down in it was freaky.  His brother finally talks some since into him and he decides he'd rather have her and protect her than to not have her at all.  It's not going to be easy though.  She refuses to take him back so he does what any "sane" person would...he just moves himself back into her house and onto her couch and refuses to leave.  I laughed at this...probably because I can see my husband doing the same thing.

"What if he breaks my heart?"
"What if he doesn't?"

He comes up with a plan.  He's going to woo her back with "cheese", in other words he's going as corny and lovey dovey as possible.  He builds a heart out of flowers in her front yard, brings her lunch which ends up being a heart shaped peanut butter sandwich.  She's annoyed and I was rolling in the floor.  About the time she finally realizes he's not going to leave her again and she decides to take him back, his ex shows up and shoots at her through a window.  Mace sees it before it happens and moves her out of the way but he's shot in the process.  He's not hurt badly.  As he's going to handle his ex, Scar comes flying around him and jumps on the girl and beats her pretty bad.

Anyway, she takes him back then moves him back into her house officially so she can take care of him.  He realizes that he wants to make her his permanently so he proposes and she says yes.  The epilogue is at their wedding reception and you get a snippet about the next book.

This was an easy 4 Stars for me.  It was sweet and fun.  It had a hot military guy with lots of tattoos and sexy yumminess.  If you're looking for a light, easy read then this book is for you.  I'm looking forward to more books in this series from the author!  Check it out!

The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski

The Edge of Never (The Edge of Never, #1)** 5 out of 5 Crazy/Emotional/Heartbreaking Stars**

Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett had always been one to thing out-of-the-box, who knew she wanted something more in life than following the same repetitive patterns and growing old with the same repetitive life story.  And she thought that her life was going in the right direction until everything fell apart.

Determined not to dwell on the negative and push forward, Camryn is set to move in with her best friend and plans to start a new job.  But after an unexpected night at the hottest club in downtown North Carolina, she makes the ultimate decision to leave the only life she's ever known, far behind.

With a purse, a cell phone and a small bag with a few necessities, Camryn, with absolutely no direction or purpose boards a Greyhound bus alone and sets out to find herself.  What she finds is a guy named Andrew Parrish, someone not so very different from her and who harbors his own dark secrets.  But Camryn swore never to let down her walls again.  And she vowed to never fall in love.

But with Andrew, Camryn finds herself doing a lot of things she never thought she'd do.  He shows her what it's really like to live out-of-the-box and to give in to her deepest, darkest desires.  On their sporadic road-trip he becomes the center of her exciting and daring new life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never imagined possible.  But will Andrew's dark secret push them inseparably together, or tear them completely apart?

Simply put...BEST. BOOK. EVER.  The Edge of Never may possibly be my new favorite.  I loved the characters.  The heroine is drowning in a life she wants out of and the hero shows her there are better ways to live.  They are exactly what the other needs.  I liked how the POV's were done.  In the beginning it's strictly Camryn telling the story and as we get to know Andrew, we begin to see his story more often.  This entire book takes place on a road trip...part of the time on a bus and the rest in a car.  There is a huge twist close to the end.  I knew something was coming and I kind of figured it out before hand but I was still devastated when it happened.  I couldn't believe it.  I bawled!  Like sobbing mess, my life sucks bawled!  I was on the edge of my seat until the very end.  I was constantly looking at the percentage remaining and thinking, "This is gonna be a cliffy, I so don't want this to end right now."  I laughed a lot in this book.  Andrew is hilarious and he brings out her funny side.  I liked how they reacted to each other.
This book will stay with me for a long time and I absolutely cannot wait until November 5th when The Edge of Always (book 2) comes out!

Camryn is 20.  She's been to hell and back and lived to tell the tale.  She lost her boyfriend a year ago to a car accident.  If that weren't bad enough, 6 months later her brother is sent to prison of killing someone while driving drunk.  Her father cheats on her mother and they divorce.  She's living in a life she doesn't want.  The only real word I can think of to describe how she feels is suffocating.  She has blonde hair and blue eyes and she beautiful.

Andrew is 25.  He's tall with green eyes and dark hair.  He has several tattoos.  He's perfect in every way.  He's hiding a secret but even it can't stop him from falling for Camryn.  She's the perfect girl and she's the light he needs in his life at that moment.  He's funny, carefree, spontaneous, and a bit of a dominate in the bedroom.

"I was taking the long road and Camryn was taking the road to nowhere and it just so happens that they led to the same place."

Camryn is coasting through life doing the best she can to keep her head above water.  After everything she has lost she's depressed, shut off and alone.  She has vowed to never fall in love and never let her walls down.  She goes to a party with her best friend Natalie and Natalie's boyfriend Damon.  After walking onto the roof with some random guy, Damon comes flying in and beats the guy up.  He then tells Camryn that he's wanted her since 7th grade and kisses her.  When she tells Natalie about it, she calls her a liar and tells her to stay away from them.  It's not long after that and Camryn has had enough.  She just needs to leave town and find herself.

She packs a bag, her phone, and a few other things and boards a bus to Idaho...Idaho because the girl at the ticket window was eating a baked potato.  It seems like a random destination and she doesn't even know what she's going to do when she gets there.  She has no idea that in a few hours her life will change forever.

Andrew boards the bus in Kansas, headed to see his father who is dying in a hospital in Wyoming.  He ends up sitting right behind Camryn.  They very briefly speak and then Andrew notices some creepy guy watching her and becomes extremely protective.  He sits next to her to keep the guy from trying as he goes to the bathroom, makes her eat lunch with him when he notices the guy get back on the bus at the rest stop.  She's very leary of him.  They have an instant attraction and he starts getting through her walls without her even realizing it.  When they change buses for the final time they sit together and get to know each other.  When they reach Wyoming it's time to say goodbye.  She can't understand why the though upsets her so badly but it does.  He gets into a cab and he's gone.

She changes her destination to Texas (where Andrew actually lives).  She goes to the bathroom and "creepy" follows her in.  He propositions her and then Andrew comes out of nowhere.  He beats the guy within an inch of his life and then takes care of her.  He had a bad feeling about the guy when he left so when he couldn't get rid of the feeling he came back.  They make a deal...he stays with her until she lets him buy a plane ticket to send her home or someone comes to get her.  This deal comes into effect once she finally tells him the truth about why she's traveling.  He is not leaving her in that bus station.  Plans are amended again...she will go with him to the hospital to visit his dad and then he will take her anywhere she wants to go.

After the visit they set out on a road trip in his dads car.  They go from city to city.  The final destination is Texas but that's not where they are actually headed.  He teaches her not to take life so seriously, to make decisions on a whim, and to open up and feel.  She does things she never would have done, things like lying on the roof of the car with him holding her in the pouring rain on the side of the road and sleeping under the stars.  He's falling in love with her and  knows it, she's falling in love with him and won't admit it.

She finally comes out about her secrets...boyfriend's death, brother, parents, and best friend drama.  They talk about one night stands and he tells her he's not into her like that.  When she runs out he follows her and tells her what he really meant...she's not the kind of girl he could sleep with once.  If he sleeps with her, she will be his.

"If you were to let me f*** you, you would have to let me own you."

He does things to her sexually but won't sleep with her and won't kiss her.  It's obvious from his POV that he wants to more than anything but he can't.  He refuses to sleep with her unless she's willing to be with him.  It's not just that though, there is something serious going on with him.  At this point I had no idea what.  I went from thinking he was dying to him having a wife and kids.  He was very cryptic about his feelings and why he wouldn't do anything.  I couldn't understand his reasoning and neither could she.

They end up in New Orleans and stay 2 weeks.  He gets the phone call about his dad passing away.  She comforts him and then he leaves.  His only intention when going back to the hotel is to leave her plane ticket home.  He's done.  I didn't understand this at all.  I'm still not sure exactly what made him want to leave.  He tries to sneak in unnoticed but she catches him and they have a huge fight.  She tells him to go and goes back to her room.  He's not done fighting and storms into her room.  He demands that she says what she feels and she finally admits that she wants to be with him.  They end up having almost violent sex.  He's obviously not leaving anymore and has no intention of leaving her anywhere.  She's his now.

"I know you lost your partner in crime, but...I want YOU to be MINE.  Maybe WE should travel the world together, Camryn...I know I can't replace your ex--"
" was always you.  Even with Ian, I felt something missing.  I told you that night in the field.  I told you that.  You are my partner in crime.  I've known that for a long time."

At this point I really started to wonder what was wrong with him.  He kept talking about not being able to not be with her but that in the end he would break both of their hearts.  They finally make it to his apartment in Texas and she meets his mom.  They decide to leave again and on the morning of he has a seizure.

When she gets to the hospital, his brother tells her that a brain tumor was discovered 8 months ago but he refused treatment because of his dad's illness.  Things don't look good for him at all.  She begs him to have the test run to see if it's operable.  He wouldn't do it before and if he had never met her then he still wouldn't have it done.  He'd do anything for her and since she asks him he agrees.  He goes into a coma and they don't think he will make it.  I'm not playing when I say I was freaking out right her.  The book was at 98% and I was terrified of a cliffhanger.  He writes her a letter in case he doesn't make it and when she reads it, it literally broke my heart.  He tells her he loves her and has loved her since the day he met her.  He realized the day they started on their road trip in the car that she was "the one."

"For the first time in my life, I've felt whole, alive, free.  You were the missing piece of my soul, the breath in my lungs, the blood in my veins."
"One more thing:  don't feel bad for not telling me that you loved me.  You didn't need to say it.  I knew all along that you did."

2 months have passed and she's standing in front of a gravestone with his last name on it crying.

Andrew walks up behind her and wraps his arms around her, thanking her for coming with him to see his dad's grave.  He had the surgery and began to recover.  He's fine now.  Later that evening she tells him she's pregnant.  He had planned on purposing the following night but does it then and she says yes.

This book deserves a lot more than 5 Stars.  I'm so mad at myself for waiting to read this book.  I've had it on my Kindle forever.  It was so freaking good.  Things are so good and they are moving along and then the worst happens from out of nowhere and it destroys you.  It took me on an emotional ride that I didn't want to get off of.  I was mad at myself for reading it so fast.  I CANNOT wait for The Edge of Always.  November 5th!  Read The Edge of Never and then mark down that release date.  Read this book!  You will not be disappointed!
