**WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD**
Ty Walker was wrongly imprisoned and for the five years he was inside, he honed his plan so when he gets out, he has nothing but vengeance on his mind.
But then he walks straight to stylish, leggy, beautiful, goofy Lexie Berry and he suddenly has something else to think about. He knows within seconds he wants her and within days he can love her but with the filth that was flung at him clinging; he also knows he can't have her.
Since birth, Lexie Berry has been Lady Luck's favorite toy and because of that Lexie is cautious But within a day, she senses Ty is something special. With her luck, however, she can't trust it. Then she finds out what was done to Ty and she's willing to do anything to make it right.
Even what Ty will never forgive her for doing.
Ty clings to vengeance and Lexie goes all out to give him back the time he lost But Ty is battling demons within and they're up against dirty cops and criminals who will stop at nothing to sway lady Luck against them. All Ty and Lexie have is hope Lady Luck will finally swing their way.
So apparently I am now obsessed with Kristen Ashley and her Colorado Mountain Series. Lady Luck is book 3 in the series. First let me say that all of these books are amazing. I love every action packed second. Out of the 3 books this wasn't my favorite (Tate will always have my heart) but it's still up there in my top 20. If you haven't read this series then I recommend you get to reading...like yesterday! This book is action packed with tons of drama, corrupt cops, bikers, a strong heroine and a wrongly accused beautiful hero. Ty has a strong need for revenge (don't even blame him a little for it) and only the love that Lexie gives him could sway that need. I loved Lexie. She's so strong and has been through so much. She brought out the best in him and though sometimes he acted stupidly and couldn't see it, eventually he got the message and became the man she knew he was all along. The story wasn't just about them though. There is a lot of side story going on as well. This book kept me interested from page one. Once again, I LOVE THIS SERIES. The book is told in Dual POV. I loved reading Ty's version of things. For those Sweet Dreams fans out there (like ME!) you get quite a bit of Tate and Laurie. There is also a little Max and Nina from The Gamble thrown in as well. The one thing I didn't like about this book was the length. It's LOOOONG! I felt like it could have ended in several places or some of the detail could have been left out to shorten it. Did this take away from my rating? Why NO! This is a dang good book.
Things I liked...
- He calls her "mama"
- How protective he is of her
- How he pretty much let her get away with anything when it came to his house
- The epilogue
Things I didn't care for...
- The length...way to long
- The descriptions on everything. To much detail from clothes bought to room decor. Honestly didn't care and found myself skimming though those part. (Still didn't take away from the book)
All in all...this is another amazing book in an already amazing series!
Lexie is a 34 year old buyer for a huge department store. She's been though a lot in her life. Her boyfriend was shot in killed. She's straight as an arrow but mixed up with the wrong person thanks to her dead boyfriend. She has no actual family but her boyfriend's mom and sisters took her as one of their own long before she began dating him. I couldn't get a really great description of her from the book but I know she's beautiful.
Ty is 6'5 (dang that's tall), huge, and dangerous looking. He has black hair, and light brown eyes. He's half white and half African American. He's angry, resentful and full of vengeance. He was arrested and has spent the last 5 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. The last thing he needs is a woman but he walks straight out of prison into Lexie's charger. He's got tattoos everywhere...I love tattoos.
A little back history...
Lexie had a boyfriend. She spent years and years with him. He loved her in his own way but he was into some bad stuff (he was a pimp). He had a best friend that everyone calls "Shift". Shift is bad news. Because her boyfriend was killed she ends up having to deal with Shift. She's trying to live her life and keep him happy so she doesn't have to deal with him often.
Ty has spent the past 5 years in prison for manslaughter and he wasn't even in the state he committed it in. He was set up by some dirty cops and a girl named Misty. The only positive thing about his stay is that he met a man named Julius. Julius turns out to be a great ally in this book.
The book begins with Lex sitting outside in her car waiting to pick Ty up as he's released from prison. She's doing this as an assignment to Shift but knows nothing about the situation. Ty comes out looking angry and dangerous. He barely speaks and when he does it's one syllable words. They end up at a diner where he questions her. Calls her a prostitute and a druggie. He realizes she doesn't know anything about what his plan is. He steps outside and uses her phone to call...Tate. We find out pretty quick that he's from Carnal and he and Tate are close...like brothers.
They head to Vegas and then he drops the bomb on her...
They end up in a heated kiss once they are in his house. It ends abruptly and he apologizes...then locks it down. He becomes the man she met in the beginning. She has a light about her that he adores but that light goes out after days of him leaving her alone and having nothing to do with her. She tries to talk to him but he's very hurtful with his words and she gives up and shuts down. He realizes the following day, he's made a mistake. He needs that light from her and can't stand it when it's not being directed at him. She's playing the part of the perfect wife but she's cold and uncaring. He hates it. He finally gets through to her and the light comes back on.
And he didn't like her light switched off. He didn't like her keeping that light for him. And the f*** of it was, he was the a**hole who'd switched it off in the first f***ing place.
Enter the dirty cop. They are about to have sex on the couch when the doorbell rings. The cop is there to give Ty a hard time but Lex gives as good as he does so he eventually leaves angry. At this point, Ty realizes that it's something more with Lex and he gives her the option to go. Gives her the 50,000 and the diamonds he bought her and tells her she's free to go. She stays and gets behind him after finding out what was done to him. He's already realized at this point that their marriage is far from fake. She makes a counter offer...she gets patio furniture out of her 50,000 and the rest goes to his fund for his revenge. They officially start the real marriage.
There is a lot of stuff that happens in the side story but for length purposes I'm not gonna go into detail. I mean who are we kidding...we just wanna know about Ty and Lex anyway.
Julius shows up and we see how close they are plus how close Ty and his friends (especially Tate) are. Life is going on and things are great. She goes behind his back to Tate trying to help him with his battle. After an incident with a cop, Ty finds out what she's done and he's angry. He thinks she's been playing him all along. He gives her the 50k and an hour and she has to be out of his house. A few days later he things are gone for good. She takes off to her family and once he gets his head out of his but and realizes that Shift has her, he goes after her only to find out that she's vanished with her best friend. He can't find her, he's miserable and he knows he's screwed things up. When he finally finds her, he tells her why he was angry and that he wants her to come home but she's done so she tells him to leave and send the divorce papers. They are apart a total of 6 weeks.
Julius being the friend he is takes things to the extreme to get them back in the same house. He calls and tells her family that Ty has been in a horrible accident and he's not gonna make it. She freaks, jumps on a plane not knowing if she'll make it in time. Julius takes her to Ty's house from the airport. She's so upset that she doesn't recognize where she is at first or the fact that the car he wrecked is in perfect condition in the garage. Ty is fine...there was no wreck. Just a great friend driven to extreme measures watching his friend as low as he can be. When she gets in the house and sees him (he doesn't know what's going on either) she pretty much collapses from the stress. They end up having sex. He asks her if she's home for good and when she says yes he tells her to never leave him and he burns the divorce papers in the sink. He puts her ring back on her finger and then has her stuff moved back in their house. They finally admit to each other they are in love with the other and have been for awhile. We've gone from fake marriage to real marriage to no marriage to extremely in love marriage.
"Your nightmare, mama, was my dream. Never had a home until you gave me one. Never had anyone give to me the way you gave to me. Never had light in my life, never, not once, I lived wild but I didn't burn bright until you shined your light on me."
To make a long story short...
There is a random search they are warned about ahead of time that they are prepared for, the woman who was his alibi the night of the murder who lied to the police (or for them) is murdered. There's an investigation into the Carnal PD. Ty shows up at her job, picks her up and kisses her hard. He then tells her that he has received a full pardon and he's no longer guilty of something he didn't do. They all celebrate and then their is a really sweet scene between Ty and Tate that made me cry :(
Things are running smoothly. She finds out she's pregnant and he's over the moon about it. They think it's over and then she's kidnapped by the police chief and almost killed. She calls Ty after she's killed the guy and he gets to her at the hospital after Tate makes sure she's ok.
The epilogue is 5 years later on Thanksgiving. All of their friends and family are there. They have 2 little girls and she's pregnant with their 3 baby. He's an amazing daddy and husband and they are happy. They eventually end up with the 4 kids they wanted and the HEA that they more than deserved!
"Home is you, Lex, not a place. I lost a lot but right now, I got it all. You don't have to break your neck or the bank to give me anything more."
5 stars with no problem! Kristen Ashley has done it again. Once again I love this series. I can't wait to get started on the next book! If you haven't read this series, seriously do it now!
My Tate / Lexie
When she wrote her note to him, she was already falling in love with him. When he'd written hers, he was already gone.
"You gave, mama, now you take."
"What are you gonna give me?"
"I wanna plant my baby in you." (hottest line of the book)
