Meant To Be by Laramie Briscoe

Meant To Be (Heaven Hill, #1)** 4.5 out of 5 Stars **

**WARNING:  SPOILERS AHEAD**

Single mother.  Laid off factory worker.  Drug runner for the Heaven Hill Motorcycle Club.

When Denise Cunningham is served with foreclosure papers on her birthday it's the last straw in a long line of bad luck.  Sitting and crying about things has never been how she solved her problems, but this time she decides to do just that.  A phone call interrupts her pity party and changes the course of her life forever.

Loyal bother.  Grease monkey mechanic.  Vice President of the Heaven Hill Motorcycle Club.

William Walker Jr., known as Liam to his club, needs a new recruit that is just naive enough and desperate enough to do what he asks without question.  When Denise Cunningham lands in his lap, he decides to hire her--not because he wants to, because he has to.

Neither are comfortable in their new roles, but he needs help and she can't stand to lose anything else.

As bullets fly and a local Bowling Green, KY reporter works to bring the club down, Liam and Denise find themselves getting closer to one another.  When the stakes get high and outside forces try to keep them away from each other, they have to decide if they really are meant to be.

MY REVIEW:

I needed my MC fix and this book did it for me.  I don't really know what I was expecting and this book has been sitting on my Kindle for awhile.  I'm one of those people who when going through a phase buys several different versions of the same kind of books.  So I kept thinking about bikers and this one was there so there I went reading.  I loved the heroine.  She's strong and determined.  Life has handed her some not so pretty situations and she's dealt with them.  Liam was everything I love my biker men to be.  Hot, and good buried beneath the bad.  I loved how he became so protective her her.  As for side characters, I absolutely couldn't stand the President which was his dad.  I get that this was supposed to be hardcore but I just didn't get him.  The writing style was easy to read and the book flows well.  It kept me engaged with just enough drama that I could't put it down.

Things I liked:

  1. Liam's possessiveness
  2. Date night
  3. Denise's drive to do what had to be done
  4. Bada** biker with tattoos and a sexy smile ;)
  5. The ending
Things that didn't work:
  1. The President
  2. Denise's kidnapping...just wasn't feeling it, expected more drama
  3. Instalove
All in all Meant to Be was a great book and I really enjoyed it.  I give it 4.5 stars.  If you need your MC fix like I do then I would give this one a try!

BOOK SUMMARY:

Denise is a single mother raising teenage twins.  She's strong, independent, and loyal to her family.  She's the kind of mom who will do what she has to when it comes to taking care of her family.  I loved her.  She is in a bad situation when the book begins and she doesn't realize that the decision she makes will change the course of her life.  I loved seeing how she handles everything and I was glad she found her happiness because she deserved it.

Liam is the VP of Heaven Hill Motorcycle Club.  He has straight black hair, blues eyes and is covered in tattoos.  He's beautiful.  He's a bada** with a soft heart.  He is loyal to his club but also to those he loves.  He's very protective of Denise and her kids from the very beginning.

Meant to Be begins with Denise.  She answers her front door only to be handled Foreclosure papers.  She's trying to support her kids but she can't make ends meet.  She's working a minimum wage job, they are hungry, have no money, and now they are losing their home.  While wallowing in her misery she receives a call from a co-worker and instead of sitting at home goes to work to cover for her while her co worker handles some family business.  Following her shift she is met by Liam in the parking lot.  He tells her thank you and gives her $40 for helping the club.  She is scared of him but somehow knows that won't be the last he sees of her.

His dad sees her weakness and decides that she is going to do another favor for the club.  Liam doesn't won't to prey on her situation but has to do what his father tells him.  He shows up at her house and asks her to do a favor.  He tells her they know her financial situation and it will be worth her time to help them.  He doesn't hold back and tells her that she'll be transporting drugs in the back of her car.  Not seeing a way out and needing the money she agrees.

She delivers the drugs in a car they provide.  Liam picks her up at the drop off point and as they are leaving they are shot at.  They get away and the next day she receives $15,000 in her bank account.  Thinking this will be it and she's free she goes on about her life.  Obviously it can't be that easy.  The people chasing them were from another rival MC and there is a pesky news reporter trying to gain access to the MC through her.
Liam's father wants to see her after she is bombarded by the reporter and it doesn't go well.  She's not one to hold back what she's feeling and snaps at the man.  It doesn't matter to him that she's not actually one of them and when she snaps at him he knocks her to the floor.  I didn't like this guy at all.  I also didn't like how Liam just let it happen.  Liam helped her out of the floor and then told his father it wouldn't happen again.  He claims her in front of the club.  She's got absolutely no idea what that means or how it's going to affect her.  Following all this she gets her and her kids into her car and drives away from the club.  She realizes that she'll never be able to get away from the club now.  She devises a plan to pack what they need and take off in the middle of the night.

Liam claimed her to protect her.  That's all it is to him at the moment.  He knows there is a pull between them and he has a need to protect her and her kids.  She's in danger with the other MC and he follows her home.  He arrives to a brick being thrown threw her window.  He realizes she's packing and taking off and he's not happy.  He's very quick to let her know that in the eyes of the club they are pretty much married and she isn't going anywhere.  He moves her and her kids into his house.

So life goes on.  They are all living together in his house, she's doing favors for the club, he's getting to know her kids and enjoying it while falling for her.  He is beginning to like the idea of being in a relationship with her and raising her kids.  He eventually kisses her and it leads to sex.  They officially become an us.  Things are still hot with the club and it's thanks to a reporter that they end up on lock down.

Denise is kidnapped while on lock down.  Liam is out handling business and comes back to realize she is gone.  His dad wants him to wait about finding her but he defies his father and goes after his girlfriend.  He finds her and almost beats the man to death.  The man hit her but didn't do anything else.  Liam takes her back to the MC.  That's pretty much it.  In the epilogue he gives her a cut that has her name and a property patch on it.  He explains that it means she's his and will always be.  He will eventually buy a ring and marry her.
