My Creative Side!

So I love all things Biker.
I got an idea and decided to let my 5 year old be a biker for Halloween.  I decided to make the costume myself and he agreed...as long as he got to have blue hair??  It's a kid thing I guess.  I thought I'd share my creation with everyone :)

I'm proud of it!  It turned out nicely!

3:AM Kisses by Addison Moore

3:AM Kisses (3:AM Kisses, #1)** 4 out of 5 Stars **

**WARNING:  SPOILERS AHEAD**

Baya Brighton is looking forward to her first year at Whitney Briggs University, new friends, dorm life, and finally being close to her brother again.  Love is the last thing on the list, but when Baya meets her brother's roommate she begins to have thoughts and feelings that make even her blush.

Bryson Edwards has a secret he prefers buried in the past and long forgotten.  He prefers loose girls, fast cars, and long nights working at the string of bars his family owns.  When his roommate's sister shows up on the scene, she's far too innocent and sweet for him but he can't shake Baya out of his mind and worse, it looks like she's seeping into his heart as well.

Baya seems determined to show her brother she's not a little kid and equally determined to use Bryson's body to prove her point.  It's been made pretty clear that Baya is off limits to Bryson but their undeniable sparks explode into a whole lot more than just a few 3:AM KISSES.

MY REVIEW...

3:AM Kisses was a good book.  It wasn't knock you down amazing but it's worth the read.  You have your tortured hero who doesn't feel worthy of love and the naive virgin who falls for the bad boy.  I really liked both Bryson and Baya.  I like the way they were together.  I liked how he made a decision to be with her and then committed fully no matter the consequences.  The book is done in both POV's and the writing style is easy to follow.  It's a fairly short read with very little drama.  I would have liked an epilogue a few years later but I was satisfied with the ending.

There were a few things that I wasn't happy with...

  1. The man-whoring (by both Cole and Bryson)
  2. Bryson constantly with a girl even when she was around
  3. The notches on the wall...gross!
  4. Her brother...I couldn't stand Cole.  For a big brother who was so protective of his sister he acted like he could care less that she was around.
If you like college romances then give this one a try.  It was good, not the best I've ever read but worth a shot.

BOOK SUMMARY...

Baya is a good girl beginning her freshman year of college.  She's 19 has brown hair and green eyes.  She's beautiful.  She's quirky, funny and a little on the naive side.  She's been sheltered her entire life by her overprotective brother.

Bryson is the extremely hot roommate to Baya's brother Cole.  He has brown hair, pale gray eyes, a beautiful smile when he actually does smile and tattoos.  He's a ladies man and has been through most of the women he goes to school with.  His family owns a series of bars he works at.  He's been through something tragic, feels a tremendous amount of guilt and feels he isn't worthy to love or be loved.

Baya and Bryson meet for the first time when she accidentally flashes him her fast day on campus.  He's immediately attracted to her (obviously) and trying to be a nice guy carries her bag to her dorm.  Upon entering her room they witness her roommate and some random guy hooking up (this is a going theme for the roommate).  He then takes her to see her brother.  Bryson is Cole's roommate.  The two of them together are making their way through the female population...Cole a little more so.

Something that just grossed me out was the notches on the wall.  The guys had a running tally on the wall in the hall keeping up with their conquests.  She can't believe her innocent brother is like this...refuses to believe it actually.  That is until he comes out of his room sweaty, ripe smelling with two females dragging up the rear.  Cole makes it known to Bryson right then that Baya is off limits...hypocrite much??

We find out very early in the book that Bryson is suffering some serious guilt.  It takes most of the book to understand what's going on but we know it deals with a girl named Stephanie from high school.  She had a best friend named Aubree who is in school with Bryson, in love with him, and a huge reminder of what happened.

Baya shows up at a party where Bryson is and he tries talking to her but she pretty much ignores him.  After he gets jealous and pulls her away from another guy she's flirting with her offers her a job.  He wants her to waitress at one of the bars his family owns.  He has his reasons for doing it but he uses the whole "I need to protect her like my little sister" theme...even though his thoughts aren't sibling related.

Weeks pass and they are getting to know each other at work and at school.  Her porn star roommate is still having sex with random boys no matter if she's in the room or not.  Having had enough she packs her stuff up and heads to her brothers.  Once arriving she comes face to face with a girl coming out of Bryson's room.  While her and Bryson are having an awkward conversation she some how ends up getting sponsored by the girl to pledge a sorority.  They spend the morning together having breakfast and going to a place away from school that turns out to be their place.  He is falling for her and he wants to be the guy she spends forever with but he knows he can't.

Their first kiss is intense.  It happens in the parking lot outside the bar at 3 AM.  It's more like a series of kisses that last until the sun comes up.  They intend to just be "kissing buddies" and don't speak about it.  He throws his man-whoring ways in her face the following day when she comes home and he and her brother both have girls over watching a movie.  She dolls herself up in the bathroom but she's inexperienced at it and the girls make fun of her.  The boys don't say anything but once the movie is over Bryson sends the girl home and spends the evening with Baya.  He ends up inviting her home for the weekend to meet his family but they will have to lie about where they are going.  At this point he's just looking for any excuse to be near her without getting in trouble with the brother.  He wants to be around her 24/7.

I've waited years for a kiss just like this one--an entire lifetime.  I had never had a kiss that mattered so much--that I've craved so badly before and now I know why--Baya wasn't there to give it.

They end up on what's pretty much a date.  They go to their secret place and there he tells her he's giving up his running tally and holding out for someone special and he hopes she understands it's her.  He finally tells her that he wants her and he's done fighting.  He makes the decision to be with her he's all in...no matter the consequences.  He also tells her he's falling for her and he wants everything she's willing to give.  Her feelings are the same and they officially become a couple.  They keep things quiet for awhile afraid of how Cole is gonna handle it but unwilling to give each other up.

I'm in.  Screw Cole and his big brother shadow.  Baya is going to have someone in her life one day, and I'd move heaven and earth for that someone to be me.

He makes the mistake of telling Aubree he has a girlfriend and who.  You know it's going to come back on him but he's so happy that he's found someone to love and love him back that he just doesn't care.  He takes her home with him and he meets his sister and mother.  We find out a little about that dark cloud hanging over his head.  Stephanie was something to him and he loved her but she's dead.  He still won't talk to her about it.  They end up spending a night alone together when his mother is called away for an emergency and he finally takes her virginity.  He's very sweet about it and the entire encounter is hot!

Once home, they decide to throw caution to the wind and head to his room after her brother goes to bed.  They are in the middle of messing around when her brother comes barging into the room catching them.  Her brother throws punch after punch.  He tells him to stay away from his sister.  Baya and Cole fight and she storms out.  Cole stops her and just tells her to not do anything with him that night.  She goes into check on Bryson and they spend the night cuddling in bed.

Baya has to meet Aubree for her initiation into the sorority at midnight.  She leaves the bar and Bryson and heads to the bridge they are meeting at.  Aubree is in love with Bryson and isn't happy about him being with Baya.  She tells Baya that she stopped him from being with Stephanie the same way she is going to stop him being with Baya...then pushes her off the bridge.

It's 2:30 and Baya's friend is worried because she isn't back yet.  She ends up telling Bryson where she went and he's instantly on alert.  He knows something isn't wrong.  He makes it to the bridge and sees her floating in the water.  He jumps in after her.  She's unconscious but breathing.  He puts her in the car and gets her to the hospital.  While waiting on the doctor he and their friends begin to realize that Aubree is behind it all.  When she comes too she tells him what Aubree told her and he goes crazy.  He ends up telling her the full story.  Stephanie was his best friend growing up.  Once they got older they decided to try dating but spent as much time on as they did off.  He loved her but it wasn't ever really serious.  They were in the middle of a break up when Aubree pushed her off a cliff.  He blamed himself.  Aubree is arrested for manslaughter.

2 weeks pass and she has completely healed.  They go to the cemetery together and he says goodbye to Stephanie.  They are moving in together in the apartment next door to her brother.  And that's it...

Sweet Home by Tillie Cole

Sweet Home** 5 out of 5 Stars **

**WARNING:  SPOILERS AHEAD**

At age twenty, Molly Shakespeare knows a lot.
She knows Descartes and Kant.
She knows academia and Oxford.
She knows that the people who love you leave you.
She knows how to be alone.

But when Molly leaves England's grey skies behind to start a new life at the University of Alabama, she finds that she has a lot to learn--she didn't know a summer could be so hot, she didn't know students could be so intimidating, and she certainly didn't know just how much the folks of Alabama love their football.

When a chance encounter with notorious star quarterback, Romeo Prince, leaves her unable to think of anything but his chocolate-brown eyes, dirty-blonde hair and perfect physique, Molly soon realizes that her quiet, solitary life is about to dramatically change forever...

MY REVIEW...

First let me say that I am a born an bred Alabamian.  I know all about southern boys and football...all about the Alabama Crimson Tide.  Being born and raised in Alabama you'd have to live under a rock not to get it.  I'm not an Alabama fan and the words Roll T*** will NEVER come out of my mouth.  I'm an Auburn Tiger, I bleed Orange and Blue.  That being said, Bama fans know their football and they have the championships to prove it.

Tillie Cole nailed it in Sweet Home.  Everything from the way we talk to how much we love our football.  She definitely did her research.  I loved this book.  A lot of people have compared it to Beautiful Disaster and I can see where that would come into play.  Rome has a lot of the same mannerism and that temper!  Other than those few things, being based in a college town is the only other similarity.  I loved the writing style though I would have loved to have had Rome's POV.  I loved how  I would think things were winding down and then something else would happen.  I loved how possessive he could be and how crazy he got if he thought he was going to lose her.

Things I loved:

  1. Rome's possessiveness...in and out of the bedroom
  2. Their game day ritual kiss
  3. His need to protect her from everything
  4. His way with words
  5. The southern setting
Things that didn't work:
  1. Shelley
  2. Rome's parents
  3. She runs...A LOT!
All in all, this book was great!  I loved it and I hate that I'm finished reading.  Take a chance on it!

BOOK REVIEW...

Molly is 20 and working on her Masters.  She's British.  She's anything but your normal college girl.  She's mousy and nerdy, spending her days studying.  She has brown hair and hides behind a big, black pair of wide framed glasses.  She's almost antisocial.  She's had a rough go at life.  Her mother died giving birth to her.  Her dad died when she was 6 and she lost the last remaining family she had, her grandmother, at 14.  She's completely and totally alone in the world.

Rome is your typically good looking southern boy.  He's Mr. Football at school...the quarterback.  He is all male.  He has brown eyes and dirty blonde longish hair.  He's built like well a football player.  He's tall, strong, and has that southern drawl.  He's also a ladies man but has never actually had a girlfriend.  Things aren't perfect a home though and he's hiding a secret.

They meet for the first time outside the class she is the TA in.  He helps her with her books.  By the end of that class he's smitten and intrigued.  He knows things will never be the same he just hasn't figured out why yet.

"It only took Romeo one look at Juliet and his fate was sealed.  Maybe I'm just like my namesake, and maybe you're just like yours."

She is pledging a sorority and as initiation they are to kiss a guy blindfolded and guess the food they just ate.  He literally pushes the guy in front of her to the floor and tells him he's in his spot.  He kisses her and it's hot.  So hot it makes everyone in the room stop and watch.  It goes on and on, and they kiss as if they need each other to breathe.  When she pulls away from him he kisses her again.  The kiss is broken up by Shelley.  Shelley thinks she has a claim on Rome and makes it known her dislike for Molly.  While she's screaming at him he almost kisses Molly again.  He leaves the party in a huff when he doesn't get the exact reaction he wanted.  We meet Alley, who she befriends at this party....she's also Rome's cousin.  She lets us know that their kiss isn't the norm for him.  She goes to Alley room to use the bathroom and finds him on the balcony.  They hang out and a connection is formed until a drunken Shelley shows up and throws herself at him.  She leaves angry.

They end up getting into a debate in class that's borderline painful both taking hits at each other in front of the class.  In the hallway afterward, she finds out that he didn't sleep with her.  He also lets her know that he let Shelley know that they would never be together.  His parents are horrible people and they have it planned that he will marry Shelley.  Rome lets her know that's over and he wants her before leaving for a game and staying gone for days.

She sees him days later arguing with his father and then his father punches him.  She ends up taking care of him and being supportive after his father has gone.  The spend the day together in the library.  Things are easy with them.  Her asks her to go to his ballgame and she refuses and he's hurt.  He leaves her a note under the door asking her to come again.

She decides to go to the game and here they begin a ritual before every home game.  She gives him a good luck kiss in front of everyone.  It's sweet.  He's playing horribly before hand and the kiss becomes what everyone says is his good luck charm since he end up with MVP following it.

"You're not the only one who feels like splittin' when times get rough, baby, but from now on, I won't let you run anywhere if I'm not right there runnin' beside you."

Things change between them later that night.  He climbs the balcony to her room and things start to get out of hand.  She stops it and they spend the night watching movies and talking.  He tells her he hasn't been with anyone since he met her and wants to be with her and only her.  They officially become a couple but she doesn't want anyone to know yet.  He doesn't like it but eventually agrees.  They begin spending every free second together.  He finds out about her family and about how she runs.  He tells her that she won't run from him because he won't let her.  They grow closer and closer, falling hard for one another.  He outs them in front of their friends.  A guy makes some rude comments about her and he goes all Travis Maddox on the guy and beats him up.  Then if that's not enough Shelley makes an appearance and then calls his parents and lets them know about the new girlfriend.  You know from reading this isn't a good thing but there is no way as of yet of telling how bad it's going to get.  We see him out a few days later eating with Shelley and his mother.  Molly doesn't handle this well and runs.  He chases her and tries to explain.  This is the first glimpse of the power his parents really have over him.

He eventually shows up at her room and when he can't get in through the window just storms the house.  He explains what's happened and promises there will be fall back because of his actions but he doesn't care.  They end up having sex for the first time.

His parents invite them for dinner.  He knows this isn't good and tries to convince her not to go...as does Alley.  She's determined and when they get there we find out in a hurry that Shelley is there and it's a set up.  They brought them there to make them break up.  He refuses, chooses her, and disowns his family and they leave.  He's mad at her for making him come but also afraid that he's lost her.  She tries to tell him she loves him but he keeps interrupting.  He tells her he loves her and then she tells him she loves him too.

BOMB about to drop...

3 months pass and she finds out she's pregnant.  Rome shows up while she's having a melt down and she has no choice but to tell him what is going on.  She tells him she'll deal with it and he won't hear it.  His reaction is different than I though it would be.  He is actually happy about the baby.  Shocked but happy.  I loved how he always made her say "we're pregnant" not I'm pregnant.  He was there to reassure her that they were in it together and he wasn't going anywhere.

"You're my life now; you're my everythin'.  You and our baby."

They end up having to go to a function that his mother and father planned.  There's no way to get out of it.  His parents hate him...I mean pure hatred.  They are out to hurt him.  While at this function, his mother and Shelley lure her into a room alone and his mother hits her.  This causes her to fall belly first into a desk.  She ends up on the floor covered in blood while his mother keeps hitting her.  Shelley, finally having gained a little integrity, runs out screaming for Rome.  Everyone is in the room, their friends are crying and he's holding her on the floor while they cry.  It was horrible because you knew what was happening and even as a reader you wanted to stop it.

She wakes up in the hospital to a very upset and sad looking Rome.  He tells her they lost their baby and she shuts down.  Completely shuts him out, she won't talk, can't look at him.  He's trying to be patient and supportive but he's grieving to.  I got angry at her here because even though I understood she was hurting she pretty much hung him out to dry.  He gets angry and storms out of the room.  Once he's gone his mother shows up and tries to strangle her.  The nurse gets the woman off her and she's arrested.  The damage is done and there is nothing left for Molly to do but what she does best...run.  She goes home to England without a word, phone call, or anything.

For the first time in my life, I was running to something, not away from it.

After weeks of being gone she has coffee with her ex and she realizes that she's made a mistake.  She board the first plane to his championship game letting her friends know she's coming.  She gets there right as the players come on the field but he has no idea she's there.  When they finally get his attention his reaction is priceless.  He makes his way slowly to her.  They do their ritual then he sits down with her on the ground.  He forgives her just glad to have her back and then goes on to win his ballgame.  They celebrate in his hotel room after the game :)

The epilogue takes place months later and he's being drafted to the NFL.  It's a happy time for him but he's scared because he doesn't know where she's going to school.  He's afraid they will have to be away from each other but she lets him know that she chose the school in the same city as him and they will be moving together and starting their lives.

MY RATING...

It was a beautiful story and I loved the ending.  It took awhile to get there but they eventually make it.  I give it 5 stars because it's everything I thought it should be.  Just for the record...when a southern man is talking about his dad and he calls him "daddy" it's pronounced "deddy or "de eh dee".  Alabama really does love it's football, whether it be Alabama or Auburn (WAR EAGLE!).  Check this book out, it's definitely worth the read!

Only For You by Genna Rulon

Only For You (For You, #1)** 5 out of 5 Stars **

**WARNING:  SPOILERS AHEAD**

"In its purest form love is self-sacrificing, eternal, selfless, enduring, truthful, forgiving and indulgent.  It also feels an awful lot like a kick to the stomach when you try to fight it!"

All Everleigh Carsen wanted to do was complete her final semester at Hensley University and begin the life she carefully planned.

When a wave of violent crime seizes campus, Everleigh is persuaded to attend a school sponsored self-defense seminar by her best friend, where she meets volunteer instructor, Hunter Charles.  After Everleigh's biting sarcasm induces Hunter to eject her from class, a tempestuous relationship is born.

Everleigh is determined to forget the striking man, but fate--the fickle shrew--continuously intervenes.  Unable to escape him, she declares Hunter an enemy combatant.  The only complication...Hunter is resolutely pursuing vindication...by any means necessary.  Verbal warfare ensues, and despite Everleigh's ingenious efforts, in Hunter, she has finally found her equal.

Only for you is a compelling tale of friendship, desire, and redemption--brimming with intelligent characters, witty dialogue, unexpected twists, profound sorrow, unfettered hope, and love's unassailable perseverance.

MY REVIEW...

This is a great debut novel.  I loved it.  It had my emotions running high and I couldn't put it down!  I read until the wee hours of the night.  I had to finish it, it had me obsessed to the point that I couldn't have slept anyway.  The plot is based in a college setting.  I was almost expecting something Beautiful Disaster-ish but this book is nothing like that.  I was invested in the characters.  I wanted Hunter and Ev together so badly and I was dying trying to figure out why he wouldn't be with her.  It also had great supporting characters.  I loved Ev's best friend and the relationship they had.  I loved the verbal warfare between Hunter and Ev.  Lets face it, I loved everything about this book.  There were a few things I didn't particularly like but it didn't take away from the story.

Things I liked:

  1. The banter between Hunter and Ev--there were some great remarks and comeback.  These two kept me laughing!
  2. Ev is snarky and sarcastic
  3. Hunter could be extremely sweet when he wanted to be
  4. He couldn't have her but he'd take her any way he could get her
  5. The mystery and drama--enough to keep me guessing
  6. The quotes!!!
Things that didn't work:

  1. Predictable--I had the rapist nailed the first time I met him.
  2. Sam's boyfriend Robbie--total doormat
  3. The amount of time it took to get his secret out
  4. There's a certain thing she thinks about him...it wasn't believable.  There is no way she could spend that much time with him and not figure it out.  Months went by and she never even considered it.
All in all, Only for You was an amazing book and worth every penny spent.  If you haven't had a chance to read this one then put it on your TBR list.  It's worth it!

BOOK SUMMARY...

Everleigh (love the name) is blonde with blue green eyes.  She isn't tall nor short...average I guess.  She's snarky and sarcastic.  She has no problem saying what she's thinking.  She's a senior in college and shares an apartment with her best friend Sam.  She was a strong heroine and I loved her.

Hunter is beautiful.  He's in his mid 20's, 6'2, with blue green eyes and black shaggy hair.  He's the instructor of the self defense course that the school is offering.  He's strong and has some alpha tendencies about him.  I feel in love immediately...almost.  He has passion and he cares about Ev very early on.

The college has a rapist on the loose.  Women are being raped and beaten and left for dead once a week.  Everyone is scared and as a way to help the girls protect themselves, the school begins a self defense course.  Sam (Ev's bff) talks her into taking the course with her.

Hunter and Ev meet for the first time in this class.  He's the instructor and takes it very seriously.  After Ev makes a sarcastic remark he kicks her out of the class.  He's very cold and hateful about it and from that moment on he has a new enemy.  Later in the day, at her first class, she comes face to face with him again.    She insults him with a song without him realizing that's what she's doing and walks away.

She somehow comes to the conclusion that he's gay...and that they should be friends.  I'm not really sure how she got that impression but I went with it.  She begins playing nice with him and it scares him (it would have scared me too!).  They eventually make friends and things are going well.  They have an easy banter between them.  She's always trying to outwit him and he enjoys messing with her.

Things go well for awhile and then he shows up at her job and acts like he doesn't know her.  He does the same thing at the self defense class that she went back to.  He tries talking to her but she's done with him.  He deploys his secret weapon after a few days.  (I'll let you read that one for yourself...I laughed so hard I cried).  She eventually forgives him.

Now things between them progress in a friendship way.  She still believes he's gay and this has been going on for awhile.  There are times when they are dancing, and the way he looks at her that she should have seen it.  There was no way this guy is gay.  He wants her so bad it's not funny...and not just in a sexual way.  She stays blissfully ignorant to it even while everyone sees it.  Her best friend tries to tell her that he's into her but she's not listening.  Griff, another friend, also tries to tell her and he finally gets through.

She begins dating a guy and Hunter is beyond jealous but the relationship (if you wanna call it that) doesn't last long.  She finally accepts he isn't gay and when they talk she realizes that he's just as into her as she is him but he lets her know that he can't give her what she needs.  He isn't in a place to be in a relationship.

Their friendship remains intact and they become closer and stronger together.  Women are still being attacked and he won't let her go anywhere alone.  He's very, very protective of her.  Time passes with much of the same.  She's attacked twice by a guy named Heath.  He's the president of a fraternity that her bff's boyfriend is with.  He is a little rough with her the first time and a little more so the next time.  For all intent he looks harmless but doesn't know what no means.  I saw this guy for what he was the first time I met him.

Sam is attacked by the rapist and left for dead.  The damage is bad and she ends up having emergency surgery.  While trying to hold herself together for her friend's sake she lets Hunter take care of her.  He takes her home and they fight.  The fight leads to an intense kiss and that kiss leads to extremely hot and steamy sex (about time!).  She's in love with him and reads to much into it.  She realizes pretty quickly that he regrets it because he can't be what she needs (we still don't know why) and he can't loose her either.

She is grabbed in the hospital parking lot by Heath.  We find out that he is the rapist.  He attacked her friend because he couldn't get to her.  She manages to get enough of a head start to the entrance that she can scream for help.  While the police are looking for him, Hunter takes her home.

She immediately realizes something is off with him when he tells her he is sleeping on the couch.  She finally makes her demand.  She tells him she's in love with him but if he can't give himself to her then he needs to let her go so she can move on.  He's upset but stands firm on his word.  She asks him to leave and he walks out of her life.

"I wish I could tell you how much you mean to me, but words would never be enough."

A month passes.  Sam is healing physically but eventually Ev has to stand up to her and has her sent somewhere they can help her.  We finally learn why Hunter couldn't be with her.  It turns out that he is the FBI agent the news kept talking about.  He was on the case and couldn't jeopardize it by telling her who he was.  I saw that coming to.

He finally manages to get alone with her and she's still angry.  She tries telling him goodbye again but he's not having it.  He goes all alpha on her and he has no intention of letting her leave.  He tells her a story about a guy who fell in love with a girl.  The story is dead on with the way things are with them.  He tells her about how much it hurt to see her date another man, how long he has loved her, how it destroyed him when she made him leave and why he couldn't tell her.  She forgives him and they end up together.  We finally get our HEA.

" I need you now, knowing you're really mine, not having to censor my words or shutter my emotions.  I need you to see and feel how deeply I love you.  Can I have you, angel?  Can I take all of you and keep it?"

MY RATING...

The only thing missing from Only for You was an epilogue.  It had one but it was more about Ev and Sam.  I wanted to know how things advanced with Ev and Hunter.  I needed more.  This is a great first book from Genna Rulon.  I'm looking forward to more from her in the future.  5 stars!  Check this one out, it's worth it!

I'm Still Here!

Hi everyone!

Blogging has been a little slow lately.  I've got several to review...most of which were awesome.  I just don't have the time at the moment I'd like to have.  Between school and family issues I'm maxed out at the moment.  Please be patient with me!  I'm trying to squeeze the time in before I get way behind.

Computers have taken over my life and not in a good way!  Computer Science is a fun major but it stresses me out at times :)

Own the Wind by Kristen Ashley

Own the Wind (Chaos, #1)** 5 Out of 5 Brilliant Biker Stars **

**WARNING:  SPOILERS AHEAD**

Too hot to handle...

Tabitha Allen grew up in the thick of Chaos--the Chaos Motorcycle Club that is.  Her father is Chaos' leader, and the club has always had her back.  But one rider was different from the start.  When Tabby was running wild, Shy Cage was there.  When tragedy tore her life apart, he helped her piece it back together.  And now, Tabby's thinking about much more than friendship...

Tabby is everything Shy's ever wanted, but everything he thinks he can't have.  She's beautiful, smart, and as his friend's daughter, untouchable.  Shy never expected more than friendship, so when tabby indicates she wants more--much more--he feels like the luckiest man alive.  But even lucky men can crash and burn...

MY REVIEW...

Kristen Ashley is one of my favorite authors!!  Every book I read is amazing!  Own the Wind was AWESOME.  I loved the characters, Tabby and Shy, so much.  I connected with them in a way that had me feeling everything they were.  Tabby was one of the strongest characters I've seen.  She's been through something that would break most people but she survived.  Shy is amazing.  He watches her go through things and keeps his distance until he can't anymore.  These two were perfect for each other.  I really expected there to be a lot of together/apart between them but once they were together they pretty much stayed that way.  I loved the plot.  I love MC books and I love bikers so this was right up my ally.  The book is done in both POV's and I loved that too.  I liked the secondary characters and would love to read about them as well.  This book had me on the edge of my seat until the very end.  It had me in tears.  It had me laughing.  It also had me mad as all get out at times too.

A few things I loved:

How bada** Shy was but yet how gentle he could be with her
How he's willing to take matters in his own hands no matter how mad she gets
How he built a friendship with her even though he knew he wanted more
I love how possessive he could be
The epilogue :)

Things I didn't:

The length of the book...very long and they spend a lot of time apart
I wanted to know what happened with the war they brought on themselves
The way he was treated when the MC found out about them

All in all this is great book by an amazing author who nails it every time!  Check this one out!

BOOK SUMMARY...

Tabby is 19 the first time we meet her and when we last see her she's between 23 and 24.  She's the daughter of the Chaos Motorcycle Club's president.  She has thick dark hair, blue eyes, and she's beautiful.  She's opinionated and strong.  Independent and sassy.  I loved her.  She's had a crush on Shy for years.  She's a nurse once she graduates college.

Shy has no family aside from a brother (Landon) who is stationed overseas.  His parents were murdered when he was 12 and up until he comes across Chaos he is alone.  He has thick dark hair, muscles, tattoos, and drives a Harley.  He's bada**.  It was love at first sight for me.  He's been in love with Tabby for years but she's off limits since she's his prez's daughter.

description

Own the Wind begins with him being dragged out of bed in the middle of the night on the orders of retrieving the Prez's daughter.  She's at a party and his job is to get her and bring her home.  He's tired of the way she behaves and since no one has ever put a stop to it so he takes matters in his own hands.  He's harsh about it. So harsh that once he's done she cries.  She kisses him as she gets out of his truck at home and from that moment it he's hooked.  He's had a thing for her but not he wants her.  The problem with this is after this night she disappears.

5 months pass before he sees her again.  She's very weird around him.  He sees her in a coffee shop but she isn't friendly.  She took his advice to heart but when he offers to let her study in his apartment she never calls him.  Another 6 months pass before he sees her again.  This time it's at the compound and she literally look through him.  He's invisible to her.  He struggles with this knowing what he did was harsh and he should have handled it better.  7 more months pass and he has to help her with a flat tire.  She's not happy to see him, is throwing some major attitude, when he tries to apologize to her she pretty much guts him and leaves him standing on the side of the road.

4 months later he spots her waiting outside a building while he's at a red light.  She looks lost and he's about to call out to her when she finds what she's looking for.  She has met and fallen for a guy named Jason.  He's jealous and takes off before she can see him.  8 months later he gets word of her engagement to Jason and takes off for 3 weeks.  He's devastated but in a bada** biker way.  She's happy and he's just plain miserable.

6 months pass and 3 weeks before Tabby's wedding the unthinkable happens. Jason is killed in a car accident.  Tabby is devastated.  He doesn't go to the hospital but wants to do something to help so he helps with the kids in the club so her family can stay with her.

She wouldn't want to see him now.  She never wanted to see him.  But he had to do something.  He wasn't her family.  But she was his.

They don't speak.  3 1/2 months later he receives a phone call in the middle of the night and she's in trouble.  He doesn't hesitate and takes off to rescue her.  Once back at the compound, he gets her drunk, they play pool and talk like old friends.  The air between them clears paving a way for that friendship to grow.  They end up in his bed (no sex) and he holds her while she breaks down.

"I'd like to know why you dialed my number tonight, but if you don't wanna share that shit, that's cool too.  I'll just say, babe, I'm glad you did.  You need a safe place just to forget shit and escape, I'll give it to you.  Tonight.  Tomorrow.  Next week.  Next month.  That safe place is me, Tabby."

He wakes up alone the following morning.  6 weeks later and the book begins in her POV.  She hasn't seen him since she snuck out of his apartment.  She knows she handled it badly but that night confused her.  She feels guilty because of Jason but she can't stop thinking about how right it felt to be in his arms.  She's supposed to go to a party at the club but instead skips it because she doesn't know how to face him.  He shows up the next morning and he's got her in his arms before she can invite him in.  He then takes her to breakfast.

"May feel like you're fallin', Tabby, but remember, I'm at the bottom ready to catch you."

2 months later and she's leaving work and on the phone.  We find out that Tab and Shy have grown very close over the last few months.  They spend all of their time together.  She gradually gets back to the person she was before she lost Jason and it's because of him.  She comes up with this plan to find out who killed his parents.  He doesn't like it when she does this kind of stuff so you know there will be an issue later.

She stops at the compound and sees him coming out of the club with a beautiful woman.  They are holding hands and she gets on the back of his bike.  Since Tab's grown up in this club, she knows the difference between groupies and old lady's.  It's obvious this woman is the latter and he's with her.  She's crushed.  One of the other brothers tell her they have been together for 3 months.  I gotta say I wasn't at all happy about this.  I felt almost like he was cheating.  I know he thought they'd never be together but he couldn't have been blind enough to not see things changing between them.  2 weeks pass and she hasn't talked to him.  Avoidance is key.  She gets home from work and he's sitting in the dark in her apartment angry.  Let's just say freezing Shy out of your life isn't something you want to do.  He wants to know why she's avoiding him.  She tells him she knows about the other woman and he's not nice about it.  She tells him thanks for everything but he's off the hook now and free to live his life now.  He doesn't take that well.  He tells her he's cutting her loose and leaves her apartment leaving his key behind.

photo shyandtab.gifA month passes and they are both miserable.  He's still with his girl but he's constantly wanting to be with Tab.  He gets word that she's taken a job far away and will be gone for months.  He storms her apartment and tells her she's not leaving him.  When she asks him why he grabs her and kisses her.  She agrees to stay.  He gives her 2 hours to get her head together and then she's to meet him at his apartment.  She shows up and he doesn't waste any time getting her into his bed.  The sex is hot and steamy...and it's about time.  Afterwards, he tells her not to ever leave him.  He then proceeds to just lay it all out there.  He lets her know that things between them isn't gonna be over in a few weeks, it may not ever be over.  He lets her know without saying an actual "I love You" that she's it for him.  While she was sorting things, he broke things off with the other girl.  He lets her know that he saw her that day outside that building and that he's been hers for a long time.  They become and "us" FINALLY!

They make it under the radar for 3 months.  No one knows they are together.  He's pretty much living with her.  Her best friend finds out about them and after some very ugly comments about Shy's character that friendship ends.  They go shopping later that day and end up running into his ex who is obviously still pinning for him.  Then to make an already bad day worse, her dad is waiting for her when she gets home.  He knows they are together and he's not happy.  He tells Shy to watch his back even though Shy tells him that he's in love with her.  After her dad leaves they finally tell each other they love each other.

She's mad and goes to the club a few days later and lets her step mom have it, when she comes out she finds her dad and Shy in a stand off.  The plan is to vote him out of the club because of them.  He doesn't even blink at this.  He tells her dad he doesn't care if they vote him out but that he isn't going to give her up.  He willing to loose everything for.  Shy looks her father in te eye and tells him that if he's forced to choose that he will choose Tab over the club.  She lets her dad know that if he's voted out the club will no longer be her home and she'll never forgive him for it.  Then they go home.

The following morning they find out that her grandmother has died.  After she talks to her step mother he sees her off to work.  She's so lost in grief that she doesn't realize her father is sitting on his bike outside their apartment.  Shy does notice him though.  They talk upstairs.  Her dad is beginning to see that she's different for him, that he really does love her.  Shy lets him know that they are living together, he's spending his time with her when he's not with the club, he plans on marrying her and starting a family with her.  Her dad gives them his official blessing.  Things move on from there.  They are insanely happy even buying a house together.  They are planning their future.

The only time I actually thought they might be done is when he finds out what she's been up to about his parents.  She gets a phone call from a very angry Shy and meets him and the other brothers at the clubhouse.  He's so angry he can't look at her, pretty much looks straight through her.  Her dad tells her to go home and wait for Shy.  It took me a little bit to understand that he was very angry but had no intentions of leaving her.  After he handles business with the guy who killed his parents, an eye for an eye and all that, he makes a trip to his aunt and uncle's house to get the diamonds that were his moms.  After that he gets on his bike and goes home to Tabby.  Once home and he sees how scared she is he makes everything right.  He gives her a pair of his mother's earrings and then apologizes for being angry.

More time passes.  They begin a new Christmas tradition.  He will give her sapphire earrings every year just like his dad did with him mom (her's were diamonds).  They move into the new house and talk about the future.  He wants 3 kids and marriage is a must.  She agrees.  They are practically engaged but he's going to give her the ring and ask her when it's the right time and she's fine with that.  He already knows her answer anyway.

They get a call from her bff at 3 am and she's in trouble...big trouble.  Shy knows the havoc it was cause on the MC but he rally's the troops and goes in to save her anyway.  They rescue the girl but Shy is shot in the process.  It's only a scratch to his neck but it could have been worse.  When he finally returns to the club she's so happy he's back to her.

"Always and forever, baby, you're stuck with me."

The epilogue is pretty simple.  He finally puts a ring on her finger and then marries her 6 months later.

It was the best day of my life, and a lot of that had to do with looking into my husband's eyes and seeing, plainly, it was the best day of his.

MY RATING...

I love all things Kristen Ashley and Own the Wind was no different.  I give this book 5 Stars and I can't wait to read the next one!  If you love big bad bikers and books about MC's and how they take care of what's there then this book is for you!  Read it!  You'll love it!

"You'll dream more dreams, baby."
"I'll never dream,"
"We'll ge you to a dream, honey."

Shy Cage never dreamed a dream.  Still, he knew, without a doubt since he was holding one in his arms, dreams were real.

Smash Into You by Shelly Crane

Smash Into You** 3.5 out of 5 Stars **

**WARNING:  SPOILERS AHEAD**

Jude has spent the whole twenty one years of his life running.  From what, he wasn't quite sure.  His mother tried to keep him safe; a low profile, a constant move on the horizon, a week's pay always stashed away.  She tried to install in him that he was special somehow, though would never elaborate.  He never felt different.  He was so completely normal and vanilla that he wondered if it had all been in her head.  But then she was murdered and all he saw was a running silhouette of a man as his mother said three final words to him.  Three words that changed his whole being.

Never stop running...

Now he's semi-settled into a big town.  The college is huge and easy to blend into.  It's been three months since he had to move because 'Biloxi', as he calls the man who killed his mother, found him once more.

Then Marley, an eighteen year old girl who is as infuriating as she is blissfully ignorant of her gorgeousness, smashed into his car with hers.  Then smashes into his life as he realizes that whatever it is he has that Biloxi wants, she has it, too.  And now, they're after them both.

MY REVIEW...

Smash Into You was a good book.  It's somewhere in the middle between ok and great.  I enjoyed the characters and their banter.  In the beginning, the book was sweet and funny.  I loved the times they continued running into each other all over town.  When something happens and they are forced to run...well that's when the book took a weird turn.  I think it may be possible that it is listed in the wrong genre.  I still enjoyed the story but it just became unbelievable.  The hero, Jude, was especially tortured and I wanted him to have his HEA.  I loved the heroine, no matter what she'd been through she was still emotionally strong.   I thought I was getting an intense contemporary read but that's not what this is at all.  It's short (I read it in an afternoon) and had enough suspense to keep me interested.

BOOK SUMMARY...

Marley is 18 and attending college.  She's blonde with blue eyes.  She has scars and she's just as scarred on the inside.  She's trying to make a life for herself.  She's been bounced from foster home to foster home until she was taken from the system.  She's doesn't want a man, doesn't need a man, and has no intention of getting one.  She's strong and doesn't fall under pressure.

Jude is 21 and has been running his entire life.  He's dark blonde, built from hard labor, and has a scar on his face.  He seems like a jerk on the outside.  He's slept with a high number of women and lets you know that he's just using them.  He pushes the girls that could be more away to keep them safe.  He's been running from a man he calls Biloxi his entire life though he doesn't know why.  He's been in this college town for 3 months, always looking over his shoulder, finding work and being paid under the table, just trying to survive.

Smash Into You begins with Jude in high school, he embarrasses a girl at his locker.  He makes it seem that she wants him and he realizes he could like her so in "Jerk" mode he tells her he's not interested and she walks away humiliated.

3 years later Jude is attending one class in college to pass as a college student, lives in a crappy one bedroom apartment, and works at a feed store.  He hates his life and the way things are turning out.  He's tried of the endless girls, endless parties, and endless schools.  He meets Marley when she hits his car with hers.  It's pouring down rain and it's dark plus he's in a horrible mood.  He realizes he could like this girl so he pushes her away (not nicely) and drives away.  She's not one to be pushed around so she gives him quite a bit of sass before he sends her on her way.

He can't stop thinking about her and something is pulling him toward her.  It doesn't help matters that they keep running into each other everywhere.  He ends up in the bar where she works with his boss.  A truck smashes through the wall and he has to run to get her out of the way.  On his way down with her, he ends up with a really bad cut on his shoulder (can't go to the hospital...to many questions) but other than that they are fine.  The guy who was in the truck is Biloxi so they have to run.  Now he's seen them together so she's no longer safe.  They end up running together with his plan being to drop her off at a safe distance.  She's bound and determined to stay with him.  We find out that she's been living in her car just so she could pay her way through school.  With her being homeless he can't just drop her so he's taking her out of town with him.

They begin to run out of money pretty fast, they have the clothes on their back and that's it.  He's still trying to get her to leave him, to hate him but she's not doing it.  He gets drunk in the hotel bar one night and intentionally brings a girl to the room he's sharing with her.  He decides against it at the last minute but Marley sees the girl anyway and she's hurt.  He's so convinced he's bad for her that he won't think about what's happening between them.

His shoulder is getting worse but they are having to work odd jobs just to eat so he keeps pushing through.  He doesn't complain and she keeps doctoring it but it's not helping.  A few days later she can't get him to wake up and leaves him in the bed and runs for help.  The guy next door helps get him to the hospital.  He wakes up 12 hours later hooked up to antibiotics.  The infection was spreading to his heart and he almost died.  He realizes once they sneak back to the hotel that he wants her to stay away from him but he also wants to keep her.  He ends up telling her he doesn't want to leave her behind.

"You make this life bearable.  You're changing me, in all the ways I thought were dead and long gone.  I thought I could never be more than I used to be, but you showed me that I can.  That I want to be."

Their first kiss is in a dressing room while shopping for clothes.  It's hot and could have led to more except 'Biloxi' shows up and starts shooting the place up.  They manage to get away barely.  Things between them progress.  They end up almost sleeping together but when he realizes she's a virgin he puts the brakes on.

This is where things start to get just...WEIRD!

Jude decides that to have her he is going to have to go after 'Biloxi' and put a stop to the running.  They get information on the guy.  Jude has a scar on his stomach where he had a port as a baby.  Marley has the same scar.  Coincidence...I think not.  'Biloxi' works for a company where they did experiments on babies.  They were both part of this.  His mother was killed trying to save his life when he was 14.  Marley's mother abandoned her when she was 3 but we quickly learn that she did it to save her life.  When 'Biloxi' realizes that she is also one he has been searching for he goes after both of them.  It's too late to split up and she'll never be safe now.  They end up taking a truck a farmer they worked for gave them and heading to New Mexico where the facility is.

While driving, he realizes that he doesn't know when it happened but she's his now.  He wants a future with her.  He wants to protect her and he'll do anything he has to, to make sure she's safe.  She tells him that they have met before.  It turns out she was the girl at the beginning he humiliated.  She was just trying to get to her locker.  When he realizes who she is and how he treated her he about looses it.

They bunk down in a hotel room for the night.  He's sitting on the ledge of the bathtub washing her hair when the guy who helped her get him to the hospital barges in the bathroom.  He tells them he's there to help them.  While Jude is in the bathroom with her while she dresses 'Biloxi' shows up and kills the other guy.  They manage to get out the window in the bathroom.  They drive straight to the facility.  It's this huge underground operation.  There are rooms with kids and patient files by the 1000's.  They've killed woman after woman.  It's all very weird.  They find out info on their mother's, when they died, stuff like that.

They are caught and 'Biloxi' tells Marley she did a great job luring him back to the facility.  She tells Jude that he's lying and then Jude is hit over the head and she's taken.  When he comes to, he eventually finds her and then kills 'Biloxi'.  They almost escape when someone sets the building on fire and they have no way out.  They end up trying to get out of the vents in the walls.  It looks like a way out but it isn't.  He gives up.  He has a serious head injury and he's doing all he can just to stay on his feet.  I bawled right here by the way.  He lays his head in her lap and she tells him to go to sleep and when he wakes up he will be with his mom.  At the last minute he hears a siren and he realizes they have to be close to a way out.  He finds it and manages to get everyone out including Marley.  He's gone as far as he can and he's the last one in the building.  The head injury causes him to loose consciencenous.

He wakes up in the hospital to find out that Marley threatened bodily harm if he wasn't saved from the building.  He finally tells her that he's in love with her and has been for awhile.  She admits she's in love with him too.  In the end, they end up going back home so she can finish school.  He ends up with a management job where he worked before and they are living together in his apartment.  He gets a promotion and they are moving to Georgia.

In the epilogue they have been living in Georgia for 3 months.  He's ring shopping while she's at school.  He proposes to her at the park after he picks her up from school and she says yes.  They end up getting married in the spot he proposed to her.

"My heart sighed at being home...in her.  I found the only place I ever wanted to live again in this girl, right here in my arms.

MY RATING...

I'm giving this one 3.5 Stars.  It's a good book and I enjoyed it.  So why only 3.5 stars?  Well for me it was the plot.  It was just so out there it wasn't believable to me.  It wasn't enough to make me not want to read it but it was definitely out there.  If you're looking for a book about a sweet romance and a different plot line then give this book a try.
